GI Doctor in Minneapolis

I have completly had it!!! My doctor will not look at the Marci kids stuff and will not up Katie’s dose. Does anyone know of a good GI here in Minneapolis that will consider the Marci Kids dose?

First she was on Zantac. Stopped working in 2 weeks.

Then, Prilosic compounded at walgreens. One month supply and falvored. It did work for the first 5 days then nothing. Back to the doctor.

Now, Prevacid 15 mg per day divided into 3 doses. Compounded at a compounding pharmacy. They flavored it the first 2 week dose and mixed it 5 mg/ml. Now, on the 2nd prescrip for the next 2 weeks it is UNflavored (as far as I know) and still mixed at 5 mg/ml.

Is the mg per ml not the right ratio? The pharmacy also says that rather than using 16.8% sodium bicarbonate they test the end product to have a ph of 8.5 or higher.

Katie has been a bear all day and I feel so bad for her.

I would love to hear what you all have to say.

I would just TELL the pharmacist how you want it. actually I would FAX the doctor & tell the doctor to WRITE THE SCRIPT exactly as you want it. tell the doctor to PLEASE HUMOUR YOU compounding post from lori: https://www.infantreflux.org/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=7855&a mp;TPN=1

and, give zantac while you’re in limbo, making sure you give 10mgs per kilo (and making sure you give it at about 4hrs seperate from the PPI if you’re still giving it)

You may want to try to PM mom2evan as she is in the MLPS/St. Paul area. She had great luck with the doctor she went to. I know she is still on the board occaisionally. I’ll shoot her an email as well to let her know to check her PM’s.

We are in Sioux Falls, SD which is about 4 hours from the cities. We see Dr. Gary Neidich at Sanford’s Children’s. He also has a new partner – Dr. Doubledee. Helen from the forums came down from ND and, as far as I know, is still doctoring with Neidich. The thing that I like about him – and would be beneficial to someone who is quite far away – is that he deals with questions and med changes over the phone. You would probably need to have an initial visit with himi face to face but then I feel he would be easy to deal with over the phone. He takes all of my calls! His nurse is Rose and his number is: 1-800-850-0064 Gary Neidich, Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition, 1305 W 18th Street, Sioux FAlls, SD 57117-5039.

Good luck. I love this specialist but haven’t found a pediatrition or family doctor that is as agressive as Dr Neidich is – so I continue to make visits with him when there is something else bothering Carson’s reflux (ears, sinuses, etc.) but he doesn’t give us the cold shoulder – we really like him!
