Going back to work soon-HELP!

Hi! Cody is now 4 months old and unfortunately I am have to go back to work in January Cody does not only have acid reflux, but he is VERY high needs! He wants to be bounced and held ALL the time!!! What am I going to do??? I have a preschool in mind, but they have said that I need to work on putting him down. I began this process, which is not easy, but Cody is getting sick, so I am holding him a lot again. Some one suggested that I read “Becoming Baby Wise”. I went on line and checked out comments about that book and have read mostly negative things. Cody is feeding about every 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 hours, so his eating is not our problem. Does anyone have any words of advice on how to prepare Cody and myself for preschool? Thank for any suggestions!

Kristen, I would check to be sure that he isn’t in pain from the reflux. Once Ben’s medicine was high enough, he was a much calmer and happier baby. Before this, however, I had to hold him constantly too. What medicine is he on?

Cody is on 7.5 mg of Prevacid once a day. He is 14 lbs. It seemed to me that the Prevacid is making Cody more fussy. He has been on it for 2 months and the time when I give it to him in the morning is usually when he is the most fussy. What are your thoughts?

Hang in there! It is pretty common that the babies do pretty good at daycare even though they are really tough at home. They love seeing and looking at new faces and other babies, so they typically do very well! Can you put him in a few hours a day a couple of times a week between now and January so that he can start getting familiar with the routine, etc?

I would try a higher dose…given 2 or 3 times a day

if you have any zantac (or tagament or axid or pepcid) I would give that, too, spaced 4hrs seperate from the prevacid

Does Liquid Zantac have a shelf life? Cody was given Zantac 1st from September, but then he was switched to Prevacid, so we still have Zantac???

it probably does, but I would guess that it’d be fine from September- I certainly would use it

Hi! I went to Marci-kids and got the proper dose of Prevacid for Cody-7.5 mg 3 times a day. He is currently taking 7.5 once a day.Our GI gave me tons of Prevacid samples at our last visit. Along with our regular perscription I would have enough to give Cody the 3 doses of 7.5 for 2 months. Our next GI visit is in Jan. so do you think I should give Cody the 3 doses or 2 and give him the Zantac in the middle of the day? Thanks for your thoughts!

you could start with 2 doses & give the zantac…

if it helps, you could try stopping the zantac

& if that doesn’t work, give the zantac, and try 3 doses of the prevacid

and if that works, try stopping the zantac again

a lot of this is trial & error
