Jay is on 15ml of prevacid and was on 1.7 ml of zantac and abour 3ml of mylanta. He just got the prevacid do I still give zantac and mylanta? I read some stuff on he can have prevacid and mylanta at the same time but not the zantac that I needed to wait 4 hours between the zantac and prevacid. It is 6:40 here and dont have 4 hours to wait should I wait and start prevacid in the morn or give it now and not the zantac. I read the the prevacid did not kick in for days and should keep giving zantac.

I’d give the Prevacid if you he won’t be up long enough to give both. Generally it’s best to keep using Zantac for a full two weeks because it can take two weeks to reach the full effect of the PPI medication. As for spacing Prevacid and Zantac, some docs say two hours in between is enough, some say 4 or 5. I’d probably try to space them 3-4 hours apart.
I think Mylanta can be given with the Prevacid but not the Zantac, as you said.

I’m glad you were able to get some Prevacid for Jay, and I hope it helps him! Prevacid can take up to two weeks before you see the full effect, so I would suggest keeping him on the zantac until the prevacid kicks in. You need to space both the Zantac and the Mylanta at least 3 hours from the Prevacid. I guess if you’ve already given Zantac and don’t have time to give the Prevacid before bed, then you should probably just wait and give it in the morning.Good luck!

I pretty much said the same thing Christine said. Posted at the same time.Thats ok I have not gave any tonight but it is time for the zantac. I think I will give the zantac and the mylanta tonight. But I was told that u could give zantac and mylanta at the same time is that wrong because that is what I have been doing? I give the zantac and in about 30 mins to hour I have been giving the mylanta. I hope that was not wrong.

Ya I read alot before I posted that is why I was sooo like what do I do and what do I not do.
The doc is going to call today sometime I hope to tell me about the prevacid and the zantac his nurse said not to give the zantac any more at all. But I waiting for him to call. Thanks MistyDitto to what Laura said…sometimes Drs and nurses aren’t always right
