InactiveAwww…I’m sorry to hear that her reflux is causing her so much trouble again. Maybe another few days on the 30 mgs of Prevacid will get things under control again. I hope so. I had a bad reflux attack the other night and I can tell you it really sucks. My throat burned so badly and I had to constantly clear my throat because it was so irritated. So from what you describe it definitely sounds like reflux. I could see why she would not want to eat.
I hope the endoscopy goes well and gives you some answers. I definitley think you are doing the right thing. As for allergies, yes I think they can effect reflux. My daughter has had a few reflux flares due to problems with hay fever, and now that I think about it I’ve been spending a lot of time outdoors and my allergies were acting up a bit. Maybe that’s what caused my reflux attack two nights ago. I think it has something to do with post nasal drip causing an increase in acid production.Anyway, good luck and please keep us posted.July 16, 2007 at 8:31 pm #39359Anonymous
InactiveI have to agree that allergies cause the reflux to flare. When Claire is stuffy and sneezing, I can usually expect her to wake at night from refluxing.
I think it bothers Ben too. It makes sense, you know. They have post nasal drip, mucous, etc. from the allergies and it irritates the throat and excites the reflux.I’m sorry to hear that she’s having such a rough time though.
Please do keep us posted on the testing and how she’s doing.July 16, 2007 at 8:52 pm #39367Anonymous
InactiveThanks, ladies, I really appreciate it. I’ve also seemed to make the connection that when I give her solid foods (actual bits vs. the pureed) she seems to be more bothered and have more reflux issues. I’m not sure if it’s the food that’s causing it, or the reflux is flaring so the food on the esophagus is bothering her…which came first, the chicken or the egg?? So, I’ve pretty much cut out all solid food bits other than puffs (she’d be VERY upset if she couldn’t have her puffs!), and she seems better. Has anyone else seen that? What does that mean? Hopefully the GI will have more info for us next week. I don’t want the endoscopy to show any real problems, but I’m hoping the GI will just have more ideas…

InactiveCarson will be 2 and I still give him stage 2 bb foods. He will eat chick nuggets, french fries, pieces of ham, etc. But he will NOT eat anything with chunks that is a mixture of textures. He will eat stage 2 sweet potatoes or he will eat my sweet potatoes in tiny chunks, but when I tried stage 3. No way. And, I have to show him what it is or he gags. These refluxers are something else!!!
