Inactivemy father in law had a bad heart attack today. they put stents in his arteries. he is just about to turn 80, but seemed a picture of health. my step-father just died in nov. at 80 years old, but his health had been failing from congestive heart failure. i find it kind of weird that i have just recently been worrying about kevin’s heart and what his arteries might look like. i keep wondering what it is i am supposed to be learning from all the challenges in my life. i feel like such a failure at times. most days i am so depressed i feel like i hardly function. i have got to rise above this.

InactiveChristine,
My heart goes out to you. I have only been on the board for a short time and you have been through so much already. I have been touched by your sense of humour and you ability to still help others even though you have so much going on yourself.
You have 9 wonderful children who know you are not a failure. They are blessed to have someone as wonderful as you to mother them.
Please reach out and seek some help- it must be so hard for you to feel so bad everyday. THere are people who can help you- maybe your family dr. Sometimes in peoples lives they just need a little extra help, there is no shame in that.
Please accept this cyberspace hug in lieu of the one I wish i could give you in person.January 25, 2007 at 9:41 am #23083Anonymous

Sorry, no advice. I just wanted to tell you I’m very sorry.January 25, 2007 at 12:11 pm #23094Anonymous
InactiveChristine,
You are my rock! You are so strong and has always helped everyone in your family and your extended reflux family! We are so grateful to have you on this board, your advice has helped so many, even through your troubled times you are always willing to send advice out to others! I’m so sorry to hear about everything that is going on again with your family! I know Kevin had some recent chest pain, which the MDs were leaning more towards anxiety, but with the family history do you think they will do a stress test to check his heart?

InactiveChristine,
I just wanted to say I am sorry about all of the challenges you have had recently. It takes a strong women to have nine children alone, combinded with everything that has hit you recently…you are just amazing! I will be praying for you and your family. My father-in-law died three years ago of a massive heart attack, but no one expected it. He has seemed fine earlier in the day. I know what you mean about worring about your husband’s heart. I hope this does not offent you in any way, but please know that God faced you with these challenges because he knows you are strong and that you can handle it. He will be with you every step of the way. Never lose sight of that and never doubt your strength. You are wonderful!

InactiveChristine,
I’m sorry to hear about your father-in-law. I hope that he can recover quickly. Your family will be in my prayers. You sure must be strong to have gone through so many trials. It’s no wonder you are feeling down, but you are certainly not a failure! Just the opposite, I’d say. You’ve raised nine wonderful children for one. It takes a lot of endurance to raise even one child. I agree with everyone else that you have brought a lot to this board alone, and we are thankful for your advice and shared experiences. You are such a great example to us all. Here is a quote that gives me comfort during hard times. I hope it doesn’t offend you or anyone else:
“The thorns that prick, that stick in the flesh, that hurt, often change
lives which seem robbed of significance and hope. This change comes
about through a refining process which often seems cruel and hard. In
this way the soul can become like soft clay in the hands of the Master
in building lives of faith, usefulness, beauty, and strength.” J. FaustI hope things ease up for you soon, Christine. Hugs & prayers.

Keymasterchristine,
I am just now seeing this!
And here I was wondering where you have been, thinking that I should email you…
my father has 6 stints in his arteries from a heat attack when he was 70 (he’s 76 now)…it’s so hard to watch people you love become old and frail…I worry constantly about him (he has other major issues, like going blind, but that’s a whole other post) so I know how worrying can eat you up inside

I guess I’m rambling to let you know you aren’t alone…
