InactiveHello, ladies. I’m sorry I’ve been gone for such a long time. We’re doing great. Ariella’s been med free for a few months now and it turned out that Ilan didn’t need to be medicated for his reflux. He’s still gassy but is definitely better and not in pain. I’m just so happy that he’s not a reflux baby 🙂 I’m working part time for now and go back to work full time in September. I’m exclusively breastfeeding and enjoy every second of it. Unfortunately, Ilan enjoys it also and it’s the only way he falls asleep. I’m worried b/c when I go back to work in September, how is he going to do without me? Any suggestion on how to train him to fall asleep on his own? Also, we’re looking for a babysitter now. I never knew that I’m such a paranoid mother. Whenever I “think” of hiring a babysitter, I get a knot in my stomach. I’m just so worried that she won’t treat him nicely. I am going to put up cameras, I just don’t know whether or not I should warn them that they’re being watched. Now that I’ve told you pretty much everything that’s been going on in our lives, I’d love to hear what’s happening with you.

hi marianna! so glad to read your post!!!for Ilan, my
: you do what works for the two of you. a caretaker will figure out how to get him to sleep. have you ever had someone else have to get him to sleep? dh? MIL?
I nursed both boys to sleep until one day it didn’t work anymore. then we figured out our next routine. and, dh and babysitters have their own ways of getting a baby to sleep…
so glad Ilan is reflux free! Feels good, no? This way, some of us can provide hope for others that the second one does not necessarily have to have reflux
as for warning the person, about cameras, I did not. I caught her stealing from me (she never ever harmed Ari!!). I never told her (long story!) that I caught her- just told her we didn’t need her anymore (didn’t want her getting psycho & wanting to take revenge
)…you’ll figure it out

InactiveHi Marianna, no real advice here. Just wanted to say hi. It is good to see an update on you! Glad Ilan is doing well, that is encouraging!

InactiveHi, Laura. It’s feels GREAT!!! He’s just such a happy baby. He smiles and laughs constantly and I’m not used to it. Ariella (my poor first born) was in so much pain that she never smiled. Ugh, thank G-d that part of my life is over. I’m glad I didn’t have to relive it. I have had others trying putting Ilan to sleep. Ariella could be rocked to sleep but he is not having it. All he wants is the boob or he’s not going to sleep, period! I see your point about not telling the babysitter know that they’re being watched. I’ve just heard so many terrible stories about babysitters abusing kids (physically and even sexually) it makes me sick to the stomach. I guess I can’t go into this with that kind of mindset. There have got to be some normal people out there, right?

InactiveI was just thinking about you the other day! I am soooooooo glad to hear such a happy update! THANK YOU for providing even more hope that not all babies have to be reflux babies!
SO HAPPY FOR YOUR FAMILY!!!July 17, 2008 at 5:05 pm #54106Anonymous
InactiveHi! THat is such a great update! And dont worry about the babysitter.. I am sure you will find someone you can trust.. plus the cameras will let you know 😉 I would def. ask around for someone that a friend might know as well.
And we are doing well.. shane is driving me crazy.. really crazy these days.. EVERYTHING is a fight/tantrum.. its bad. But then he can be the sweetest thing. We are expecting #2 in december! NERVOUS AND EXCITED at the same time.. but you have given me hope that we can have a reflux free baby! 🙂July 17, 2008 at 8:36 pm #54120Anonymous
InactiveWelcome back!! Great update. So glad Ilan doesn’t need meds and is a happy baby. About the childcare. I have been going through the same thing. What I ended up doing is finding a good friend who has someone watch her son and she agreed to let my son come to her house as well. So Cooper will be with a familiar baby and a good nanny. I am lucky though that he will only have to be there 1 day/wk, but I understand your fear… I can totally relate. Cooper is 17 months old and has only been left with family!! This is totally uncharted territory for us. Good Luck. Laura also gave me a good site called sittercity.com. I have had some good responses they just weren’t available when I needed them. Since you are in NYC it might be a good resource for you. They even offer background checks (I think they were $10 each). Keep us posted.
