Help…Possible Corn Allergy?

Hello all….it’s me…again. I haven’t posted in awhile as absolutely NOTHING has changed! My baby boy, now 3 months old (2 months on Neocate) is still having diarrhea and pooping pure mucous. The doc just called in his 5th round of Flagyl (they are really worried about the intestinal infection going into his bloodstream). Although they are still not normal, the antibiotic causes a dramatic improvement in his stools. He is now on the therbiotic infant formula probiotic, which has made no difference. I don’t know how it could as he is only off the antibiotics for a couple of days at a time. They have tested him for everything and are coming up with nothing. I am convinced he is reacting to something in all of the formulas he has tried. One of the only consistent ingredients is corn. It is my understanding that reacting to the corn in Neocate is almost impossible? But, I read about someone that did and it was the corn? I thought I remember reading that the baby had to be on Goats milk and something else? Does anyone have any information about this? I have been reading about Allimmentun RTF, it is the supposed to be the only corn free formula made? Has anyone done well on this that didn’t tolerate Neocate?

Chris, I know how frustrating it is. My son is 3 months and did not tolerate the elemental formulas. we tried both neocate and elecare. after about 2 weeks on each he would get eczema all over his body and mucus stools, along with an increase in his already awful reflux. The neocate was the worst, he did so awful on that and that is supposed to be like the “miracle formula”. he couldnt tolerate nutramigen either, he had blood in his stools with that and 7-10 loose mucus poops a day.

sooo….we are going the alimentum rtf route as well to see if it is the corn causing all of these issues. he remains on his prilosec dose for now. we just started the alimentum so we will have to wait and see but I think we are onto something with this corn issue!!
