i cant stand it

Hello, i just found this site last night.

my name is Billy, my sons name is Jude, he is six weeks old. Nine days ago he choked, scared me to death, was diagnosed with acid reflux, he is now on prevacid 7.5mg once a day.

Since last night ive read some other post and they have been somewhat comforting.

We thought it was colic at first, my wife has been changing her diet.

He is breast feeding and on similac. We were giving him isomil advance similac.

He is realy screaming when he crys and appears to be in alot of pain.

I called the doctor and he told me to change the similac to sensative r.s.

We feel like we are lost in the dark and we can hear our little boy crying and we cant do anything about it.

We havent a clue on what to do to help him. I cant stand to see him in so much pain.

Can you guys help us please.

can you let us know if he has any diaper issues… gas? diarhea? mucous? excema? ( trying to look for more signs of intolerance).

i would either switch him to hypo formula. and see how that goes. or ask the doctor if you can give 7.5 mg’s 2x a day. i took my daughter to a GI specialist…when she was about a month old. the doctor right away switched her to prevacid twice a day because she said it wears off in babys half way through the day!

right now he is pooping once every 24 to 36hrs, is this normal? It apears to be normal poop, what should we look for? he is passing gas threw the day. no visible mucus, but he does sound congested when he is feeding. he might have a small case of excema, small bumps on his entire face only,

it seems to be clearing away. Im going to ask his doc if we can up his dose of prevacid. What is the best way to give this med.? it disolves.

then, hop back here to learn HOW to get that proper dose, if need be, and what FORM of PPI and HOW to administer…

unfortunately the majority of drs & pharmacists don’t know…babies metabolisms’ are much faster than adults, so the drugs work differently with them…

after medication, you might then want to look at diet…

Hi & Welcome. I’m a lurker here myself. When you say your wife is changing her diet, what do you mean? Has she given up dairy and soy? I really suggest going to a Pediatric GI doc if you haven’t already, mine has been a godsend. I would definitely see about twice a day dosing. HTH
