InactiveMy son is 4 1/2 months old. When he was first born we were having problems with all formulas causing constipation and everything, so the doc switched him to Nutramigen. It worked great, but hes spit up really bad since he started it, but I didnt think anything of it. About a month ago, he started giving me a lot of problems. He will take half his bottle, then cry out and not want it anymore. He arches his back really bad. He also has been wanting to sit up ALL the time, at first I just though he was advanced and thats why eh wanted to sit up, but sometimes he will outright throw a fit if you dont set him up. He also has a cough that he has had the entire time, and I can not get it to go away. I have mentioned to his doctor all of his problems a couple of times and he just says they are normal problems for a baby. I honestly feel that this is a crock, but I dont want to be a nagging first time mom, but I am tired of my poor baby feeling like crap. He is such a happy baby, but most around feeding time he crys out a lot out of nowhere, and also fights sleep really bad. Acid reflux runs in mine and my husbands side of the family, and I just need advice on want to do. I am at my wits end, and I feel like I am going to snap at his doctor any day now.

InactiveI was just telling another mom that Reflux-y symptoms (like spitting up, coughing and back arching) can all be a signs of an untreated milk protein allergy. And from what you described and it seems like you’re thinking he is having problems with reflux. Maybe talk to your doctor about your LO possibly reacting to the milk proteins in the Nutramigen. He might need an elemental formula (like Neocate or Elecare), because elemental formulas are made up of individual amino acids (the building blocks of protein) they are 100% hypoallergenic and easiest for babies with allergies to digest.
Is your LO taking medicine for reflux? Maybe that’s all he needs? Just suggestions!October 27, 2010 at 9:18 pm #67230hellbennt
