hello my name is cassandra my dd is 4 mnths old and has reflux bad!!! bad enough that we have been in and out of the er five diffrent times from her stop breathing which they say its from her reflux. im at wits end. after reading some of these post i have to wonder if my dd pedi is really doing everything she should be let alone if i am. she is on omeprazole dr 10 mg which is prilosec dr. and to be honest it does not work worth a crud. but yet they havent changed it or uped the strangth. she is always spiting up and it smells so bad its curdled and she screams. poor baby is always crying and hardly want her bottle anymore. she has intollrance to milk so she is on soy. her pedi who i love just not so sure if she really has any idea about reflux has never once brought up going to a gi so how do i know that is really what is wrong? insted of changing her meds they have me putting 5 tsp of rice cereal into a 6 oz bottle. im just not sure what to do anymore. and she has been on the omeprazole for 2 months now

ok I am in a hurry, but I wanted to respond to your post!

there may be no reason to thicken, it’s pretty old-fashioned advice, but there’s more about this in the link below (Groupie Intro)

please research all you can here, there is so much information!

this link will lead you to all kinds of information- it might even be ‘information overload’ so skim/scroll/read through & refer back to it often- here it is it’s called Groupie Intro:

https://www.infantreflux.org/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=853

my baby was n an apnea monitor, he, too, stopped breathing…

it’s scary! hang in there! you’ve found a great place!

from the link above, look for a link called Prevacid 101– this is important, as a PPI medication is most likely the next plan of action…

so much more to help you with, but you’re off to a great start!

so glad you found us!

i’d be willing to bet that if she has an intolerance to milk that she probably has an intolerance to soy, also.

[hellbennt]

the intolerances that Christine is talking about- you can find info (links to info) from Groupie Intro-

https://www.infantreflux.org/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=853

look for MSPI information (that’s Milk Soy Protein Intolernace)…

[hellbennt]

nexium is that 40 MGS? I’m just asking bcse 40mils is the amount of liquid and then I would want to know where the liquid is coming from- is it packets you make yourself or is it made at the pharmacy?

have you read Prevacid 101 yet? It’ll really help you understand all of this.

there’s even a link to PROPER zantac dosing, etc.

Look for the link to Prevacid 101 from Groupie Intro, the link I gave above, here it is again:
