Im confused about dosing!

Hi there, I am new here and very confused about dosing. 🙁

My daughter is 12 lbs and was given prilosec 2mg/ml in syrspend

I give her 1 ml 2 times a day… is that too low? What should she be on? I was confused about the dosing chart on the site.

Your daughter should be getting 1.25mg per kilogram three times a day.

12 lbs = 5.45 kilograms

5.45 kilograms X 1.25 mgs = 6.81 mgs. X 3 times daily would be 20.45 mgs.

Your daugter is only getting 4 mgs a day. Her dosage would be closer to 20 mgs if you used the http://www.marci-kids.com site. I would do my best to try and get that increased. Also check and make sure they are mixing it correctly.

there is info there about HOW TO ASK FOR YOUR PPI TO BE COMPOUNDED.

even at 3mgs per kilo (this is what ‘used’ to be considered a high/proper dose), your baby could be getting 16.4mgs a day is currently is only getting 4mgs a day…

do you have zantac/pepsid/axid/tagament?

you can give this as well, in addition to the PPI, until you get the dose ‘right’

just make sure you give it 2-5hrs seperate from the PPI (our ped gi said 2 hrs & we were fine with that- others have posted that their ped gis said to wait 3,4,or 5hrs between doses)
