InactiveI am introducing Aidan to his crib finally. The first night Aidan slept in his crib, he was on the Boppy pillow and he slept wonderfully but hes at the point where hes moving alot at night while he is sleeping and hes just trying to start to roll over so the pillows got to go……I bought a Dex Crib wedge and it doesnt seem to raise the end of Aidan’s crib mattress enough to accomodate the way he was sleeping in his pack and play with his Boppy pillow. (We had him closeby to us at night in his pack and play but hes now 18 1/2lbs and way too big for the bassinet in the P&P)
How have some of you elevated the end of the crib mattress to elevate your baby’s head while he/she sleeps?
(I tried posting this on the sleep forum but no one answered there so I put it here!)

InactiveI used bed pillows to elevate the mattress. Then under the crib sheet I rolled up two large beach towels for the sides and folded a bed pillow in half for the bottom so everything makes a U shape. Then I put the crib sheet over this. Then Abby slept in this and this helped her to not slide down the mattress. In the end she was more comfortable sleeping on her stomach on a flat mattress. Hope you find something that helps.

InactiveI used a big blanket, folded up, under the head of the crib mattress to raise it. I guess I didn’t raise it as much as others do, because Myles never slid down.

Keymasterwe were lucky- our crib’s mattress can be adjusted seperately on each side, so we raised one side…

InactiveLaura, I wanted to do that with Myles’ crib by my FIL said it would put too much stress on the screws or bolts or whatever (I’m not mechanically inclined at all
) and they could snap off. Maybe your crib is made differently?October 23, 2006 at 8:08 am #16426hellbennt
Keymasterchristine,
what your FIL said is very well possible! We just did it (we didn’t have a FIL to tell us otherwise

) & the crib is no worse for the wear…Sometimes ignorance is bliss

InactiveThat’s so true.

InactiveWe put the wedge that we got with her tucker sling under the end of the mattress. When she became really active and kept ending up at the bottom of the crib, we switched to a couple of bed pillows under the end of the mattress. Eventually she became so active that she rolled to the bottom within an hour of going to bed so we stopped elevating.

InactiveWe had the same problem as you, and ultimately found out that sleeping her on her SIDE in a sleep positioner actually worked BETTER than elevating her head at all! It was a miracle how good it worked actually.

InactiveI tried elevating Aidan’s head using both the crib wedge and 2 standard pillows last night. By morning he had slipped down the incline. I know some of you said that this was a sign for you to stop elevating but he needs his head elevated to drift off to sleep and to sleep soundly through the night.
I will try your idea Andrea and place a pillow under the crib sheet beneath his feet to keep him from sliding down……hopefully this works!
Thanks to all for the replies!

InactiveI’d be really careful about putting a pillow in his crib. If he slides down and gets turned around, he could bury his face in it.

InactiveI was planning on putting it under the crib sheet. I think thats how Andrea said she placed it in her childs crib……that way its almost like its part of the mattress
Maybe Ill leave it to where he can just slide down……I went in this AM and he was at the bottom of the crib but still resting peacefully….
