InactiveSo, Hailey weaned herself from the bottle about 3 weeks ago much (MUCH) to my dismay. I was so worried that off of the bottle there would be no way she could consume enough calories to keep gaining. She’s not by any means at a low weight but I still worry – like we all do. She pretty much maintains somewhere between the 25-50%. She does gain in spurts though and seems to go months without gaining a thing. Since she got off of the bottle, she has gained almost an entire pound! I can’t believe how much her appetite has increased since she’s off of it. She has really replaced her bottle calories with food and then some. She’s not drinking much milk yet, although she’s at least drinking some and that is quite an improvement. She is drinking 3-4 drinkable yogurts per day (3 oz each) and that makes me happy. I’m very happy with the whole situation and thankful that for once something could be easy for us!

InactiveThanks guys!

Laura ~ I had to laugh at your seemingly easy suggestion. You’d think it should be that simple (slowly add milk to yogurt), yet this kid is way too smart for anything like that…She will only drink the yogurt from the container it comes in which has animals on them. We tried adding milk, she takes one sip and hands it right back to you. She’s accepting chocolate milk. Yesterday she drank about 2 oz on her own in a new sippy cup which was a huge victory!
I’m very pleased with her progress.February 20, 2006 at 11:27 am #1984Anonymous

InactiveI took Kayleigh shopping for a milk cup. A totally different cup then she drinks out of normally so far it seems to do the trick. Congrats to the both of you!
