InactiveI just have to vent to people that I know will be as annoyed as me by this. We had a party this weekend for my husbands 30th birthday. We invited a friend from college who is now a Physician’s Assistant. He has been working in family practice for a little while and was asking me how Sebastian was doing. I was telling him about the reflux and MSPI issues. He said that reflux is totally over diagnosed. He said the only drug he prescribes for it is Zantac and if that dose not work then it means they don’t really have reflux!
He then went on to say that the MSPI stuff was not true and that some babies just cant tolerate formula well. I said that I started out breast feeding and his response was, that some babies just can’t tolerate breast milk either!
I tried to share my knowledge and educate him a bit, when I really just wanted to rip his head off. Unfortunately he is a pampas ass and would not listen to anything I said.
It is so frustrating that proper reflux care is not being taught, and idiots like that are treating peoples babies. I feel so bad for the parents and kids that have to see him. He works in a clinic for low income families on medicaid, so I am sure they have no other choice.
Sorry for unloading. Dh was not nearly as upset by it as I was. He just said it was Bryan being Bryan and I should just ignore him and change the subject. I know that you all are the only ones that will truly share my outrage at what an idiot this guy is.

InactiveI don’t know the guy and I would love to deck him
. How totally ignorant – I guess that is why he is a Physician A*Sistant
. Guess I am getting a little hostile – better just post the reply.Robin

InactiveI hate hearing ignorant comments like that. I just saw my family physician for the first time since Hailey was a few weeks old. He asked me if she had any problems, because I had a difficult pregnancy. I told him about her reflux and feeding aversion, and he said “well that’s not a big deal, she’ll outgrow it”. I wanted to strangle him, but instead just kept my mouth shut, because I was afraid if I opened it, who knew what would come out!

Inactiveactually, people who have medicaid do have plenty of options if they look..at least we do here…My kids both have medicaid, and I was able to find both a ped. and a ped gi who were very up on the latest reflux info ( aidan has been on 30 mgs of prevacid for 3 months or so)…maybe things are different here but the dr’s that take medicaid are just as good, and in some cases better, than those who don’t.

InactiveI feel sorry for the babies he treats (or “doesn’t treat” is putting it more accurately). I would have been spitting nails in a conversation like that!

InactiveJust wondering… What’s a “physician’s assistant”? We don’t have those here.
