i’ve read that sleeping in doesnt work for babies well i was just wondering if maybe thats why my baby takes short naps and sometimes he skips the morning nap because he wakes up every day around 9-10 a.m. and i have see on many posts that your babies start the day around 6 or 7 a.m. just curios about your opinions ???

“Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child” says that babies starting at around 4 mos of age generally wake up between 6am-8am and go down for a morning nap about 2 hours after waking up and then take a second nap starting sometime between 12-2 and a third nap starting sometime between 3-5pm. He also says that around 4 mos of age babies should start going to bed earlier at night, like between 6-8pm. It seems like alot of people on here have said their babies go to sleep around 8:30pm.

The latest Cooper has ever slept has been 7:15a. He is usually up at 6:30am and his first nap is b/t 8:30 and 9am. We take our 2nd nap around 12:30 and then our last nap about 4pm. He goes to bed anytime between 8 and 8:30p. I moved that up at about 4.5 months before that his bed time was 9:30p. Hope that helps.

it doesnt bother me at all the fact that he wakes up late in the mornings, and he does go to bed around 8:30p.m. almost each night so i was kind of wondering if its ok if we just skip the morning nap and take the first nap around 12:30 or 1 p.m. what you all think?

gabbs,

That sounds GREAT to me! He is doing well then. I think you could skip the morning nap for sure if that works for you and your baby. Also, what a cute picture!

What a cutie!! I think as long as he getting enough sleep overall that it’s fine if he has no morning nap. Two of my babies used to sleep until 8 or 8:30 am and were only napping once per day at 9 months. They were in bed for the night by 8 pm, and had one 2.5 to 3 hour nap each day. It worked great for me and they were happy and well rested. I wish my third child would sleep later in the morning.
