InactiveThe endoscopy went well.
The GI said he saw a normal stomach and esophagus, but there was inflamation in the lower bowels (duodenitis)
. he got 4 biopsy of the stomach and esophagus and multiple of the lower intestine. we will know more after the biopsy results come back, since he said sometimes things look normal, but they might be still something going on. she is not herself yet as she had other things done at the same time and is uncomfortable. She had the impendance Ph probe test done (not fun) and she had her PEG changed to a button. it has been olverwhemilng getting used to this button, but i am getting there. kendra is just so sore every where
. She is getting a bit better today.I am so worry about the inflammation she has going on and the posibility that somehting is really wrong is not leaving my mind
. I need to be more positive, but i am being so depressing, please somebody tell me no to worry so much. Thanks for the support and prayers.August 10, 2007 at 6:59 am #40807Anonymous
InactiveOh Leo,
I keep my fingers crossed that all the biopsies come back negative and poor little kendra, I hope she starts feeling better soon. So much for someone so little to have to go through, but if in the end it helps figure things out, it has to be worth it. A big
to you. August 10, 2007 at 11:10 am #40826Anonymous
InactiveHi Leo,
I’m so sorry that Kendra had to go through all of that.
I hope she gets feeling better soon and that the results from the biopsies are good. Hang in there! I’m sure they’ll get to the bottom of everything soon.

InactiveLeo,
First off here’s a BIG
from me. If I lived anywhere near you I would come over and give you one myself.I’m glad that the endoscopy went well(no complications)but frustrated for you that they found something going on in her bowels. I know this might sound silly, but just think if you didn’t have it done and never knew what was going on! At least you guys can START to get on the right track to get her better as quickly as possible.
If you could sit here with me at the computer you could hear my heart audibly breaking for you and Kendra(I’m a tad dramatic
) as I’m sure it’s excruciating watching her uncomfortable and feeling so helpless but she WILL get better. I have complete faith. God is the great physician!!(in my humble opinion)I will pray that her biopsies are negative and also that if they aren’t you both have the strength to get through this. I KNOW you do!!! It will be okay,I know it. You’re in my thoughts all day today!!August 10, 2007 at 1:18 pm #40832Anonymous
InactiveLeo,
You guys have been through so much already, I feel so bad for Kendra. I know it’s hard to go through everything and to have the scope come back showing inflammation- it’s one of those things that you do, but secretly want everything to be normal, of course. But at least having all this done will show you what’s really going on with Kendra. Knowing that there’s duodenitis might be the missing piece of the puzzle that helps the doctors to figure out how to help her and get everything right on track. Our feeding therapist was amazing, and she always told us that no feeding therapy in the world would solve the problems that had evolved without first getting to the root of the problem and helping Hailey to feel better first. I firmly believe that to be true. So even though I know that you’re scared and it’s not what you were expecting, knowing can only help. I’m so sorry that Kendra had to go through so much, but she’s such an amazing, strong little girl, and I know that she’ll come out of everything with flying colours. When we were on the verge of the tube, I always used to think about the learning curve that must go along with it, and I’m sure that after having the peg for a while, you get used to it and the button must be a big change. But once you get over the hump, I’m sure that not having the tube hanging around all the time will give you both a lot more freedom and comfort. I can imagine how overwhelmed you must feel. Know that you’re not alone and we’re all here for you when you need a hug or a shoulder to lean on. Kendra’s lucky to have you as her mommy, and I hope that this new information is the first step towards better days for you both. HUGS.August 10, 2007 at 2:05 pm #40834Anonymous
InactiveThank you guys, your supporting words means so much.
i know all these tets and procedures are for kendra’s well being, and i try every time to be strong, but when i give them my happy baby and they give me back a sore achy baby my heart just hurts
. I feel so guilty, when i put her throug this. Thanks goodness she won’t remember anyhting. She is much better today. Although she still ferverish feeling, and has a buger nose. iam getting more comfortable with the button.
She still needs her ear tubes put in. I get so sad for her
sometimes, but i know this shall pass. it just hard when you are in teh middle of it. You guys know what i mean. thanks againAugust 10, 2007 at 2:16 pm #40835Anonymous
InactivePoor baby.
I feel so bad for her. I can’t even stand it when my little ones have a miserable virus, so I can’t imagine how hard it is for you to see her hurting from all these procedures
. And then to have to worry about what it all means. I will pray for Kendra and I hope it all turns out to be something minor and easy to treat. Please keep us posted. I hope she’s feeling better soon.August 10, 2007 at 8:19 pm #40859hellbennt

InactiveKendra scope and PH Impendance test came back normal
. The inflammation that he saw was just his first impression and they usually go by the biopsy results.
We are going to reintroduce solids and keep and eye on her and re-scope if things are looking pretty back again. the allergist recomendations is to give an offender food a try for 10 full days , even if a reaction appears (of course stop if things look really bad) and give benadryl in the mean time to calm the reaction down a bit. if things don’t improve, that food will be out for a few months to try again. We will be doing a patch test soon. they’ll call me back with an appoiment. I realize that the scope was performed while on Neocate and meds, so i am a bit worry about starting solids.
Thanks everyone for your prayers and support; iam very happy for Kendra. Please keep praying that she does ok with her solids and that her DGE won’t mess things up.August 14, 2007 at 6:53 pm #41061Anonymous

InactiveThat is fantastic news. I am going to keep my fingers toes and whatever else I can cross crossed that the solids go well. I know how hard it must be for you and her not to let her have solids. Please do keep us posted.

InactiveThank you everyone!!
Christine,we started up with squash today, just to be on the safe side and she ate 1/2 of stage 1 baby food jar. I htink she was really missing her solids. We are keeping a diary and will continue to add more food. It seems so slow, but will get there soon i hope.August 16, 2007 at 9:31 am #41189Anonymous
InactiveThat’s so great!!! Good luck with the food trials.

Glad to hear that all came back fine… i think we have spoken before about the advice that was given to me re foods… same that you have been given. Really need to give it 10 days… we did it and it worked. A couple of foods were out but Matthew is not eating everything (including some small pieces of egg!). Hope it is going well. Will look for an update on other forum?! -
