InactiveFound it!! LOL Took me a little while to navigate things, and with little Ryker being in an Acid battle, typing with one hand has been difficult.

InactiveHi Laura @hellbennt,
I was referred to talk with you per Kira at Belly Buffers. We just started our 3 mos old, 12.5 lb, daughter on a compound Prevacid called “FIRST” 3 weeks ago. She has responded well, however, the compound is not effective past the 3rd week and it’s very expensive. We’ve been reading about using Prevacid capsules with infants and tried a dose tonight this way. Our daughter is currently on 7.5 mgs 2 times a day. We gave her the first prevacid capsule medication (half of the granules for 7.5 mg) tonight by putting the granules in a syringe and adding a few ml of Apple juice to give a liquid for the baby to swallow. She took it well, however, 2 hours later she spit up a very small amount and small purple looking deflated beads were in the spit up. We think this is the Prevacid, but would like to know if it was effective at all or if she just spit all of the meds up. Also, are we administering the medication properly? We waited 30 minutes after giving her the meds to feed her. Kira has no Belly Buffers available to send us so we’re hoping apple juice is okay. So lost on how to proceed. Just trying to stop our baby’s suffering! Thank you!March 16, 2015 at 11:36 am #135523hellbennt

hi! there’s a video on how to use the apple juice = click her & scroll down to OTC Prevacid and apple juice
https://infantreflux.org/dosing-administration-of-medicines-ppis/the First is good for 10 days, plus or minus, I’m told (by an extremely reliable source)…
if you give the First you don’t have to time around meals.
giving the beads you must give on an empty stomach, followed by a ‘meal’ 30 minute later.please surf/explore this site!

Keymaster@becky how is everything?

Inactive@hellbennt , things are going okay. Our baby has been on our homemade solution for 1 week now and just this Saturday started to become more irritable. I’m wondering if she’s gaining weight so it’s throwing her 2x a day @ 7.5 mg per serving of prevacid off a bit. Our doctor said she would most likely outgrow the reflux when she could sit up so she didn’t want to necessarily up the dosage as baby gained weight so that she could slowly “wean” off as she grew older/bigger and got closer to sitting up. Hubby doesn’t want to increase meds without doctor’s consent, but I don’t think she’ll be on board. Hopefully this is an “acid battle” that will die down as we get closer to two weeks on the new application of prevacid (from liquid to beads in apple juice).
Question: Are babies naturally very squirmy/wiggly? First time mom and our baby is very wiggly all the time and has a hard time sitting still. Not sure if she’s just full of energy or if she’s wiggly because she’s uncomfortable from the reflux/other stomach issues.
Thx!
