Here recently my baby boy has been getting worse and worse. He coughs more, he chokes more, he stays congested, etc.
We saw the GI for the first time today. He went over the results from our sons pH probe and Upper GI. He has suggested that we do small frequent feedings (every 2 hours including at night). He has also suggested that we sleep him at a 30 degree angle on his stomach.
We also suspect a food allergy because he has recently had green, mucusy poops with a bad smell to them (He is breastfed so this is odd for him). Sure enough the GI found that he also had blood in it. We then sent it in for a full culture to rule out any infection and make sure this is an allergy we are actually dealing with.
I plan on trying the elimination diet to see what foods might be effecting him. I have not been having any dairy for weeks now (I was allergic as a child and I strongly suspect that). I am also thinking he may be allergic to tomatoes and beef. Today is my first day on the new diet so it will also be the first day I have completely cut this stuff out.
This will be a very demanding schedule for me. Constantly logging my food intake, his feedings, and stools. Feeding every two hours will mean less sleep and less time for social activity(especially since he will no longer take a bottle at all). I am more than willing to do this if it will help him.
My question is has anyone done anything similar? What were the results?

March 12, 2010 at 9:59 am #66015hellbenntKeymasteryes mamas have done this.
I did the elimintion diet and did find that my son reacted when i ate tomatatos…if you’re eliminating dairy, then you must read ingredients to make sure that you are not eating any ‘hidden’ dairy.
The TED (total elimination diet) is hard, but it’s *only*2 weeks…
there are many many posts about it and lots of support…
