InactiveYou are so lucky to find a doctor who is supportive! I am going to be very scared to talk to our ped about this. We live in a small college town so there are only 2 ped practices in our area…its frustrating!

hey yes it can be hard…most people have better luck with family practice doctors.

InactiveI have had the MMR injection now 4 times, can you believe that? I had 2 when I was a child, but the first one was given a little too early so I was revaccinated when I went to college entering the nursing program. Then when I got my first nursing job I had to show proof of my vaccinations and I was in the process of getting married and moving into a new home with my husband to be, so I was too lazy to hunt down my paperwork so I let the nurse draw a titer and of course it came back negative for Rubella! Can you believe that after 3 shots it still comes back too low, so I had to get a MMR since they did not have Rubella by itself and right before my wedding day, I broke out in a rash as well! It wasn’t bad but it was all over my hands and arms and some on my chest thank goodness my wedding dress covered the rash on my chest and I had gloves covering my arms! I did have mild body aches but not bad, it just looked worse than it really felt in my case, but I’m one of the low percentage that had a rash as a reaction. Alexis’s mom2007-6-9 23:49:19

InactiveThats interesting Sue, because over here they only vacinate 3 times and if you still aren’t positive for reubella they don’t bother (I also had to have it twice).
There is no “live” virus in the vacination. Any reaction is to the ingredients of the vacination itself (just like some of our babies react to the “look” of some proteins, so to can some of our systems react to the “look” of some proteins in viruses.)
This issue seems to be rehashed over and over on this forum to varying degrees. I think its great people want to be informed about things but maybe this can be done by PM? I’m not trying to endorse censorship because I am sure there is a forum out there totally devoted to this issue if people want to pursue it further.

InactiveThat is why after I finished reading the post that was closed, I asked that it be the end of this thread since I was the topic starter…
. I didn’t want to anger anyone bc I know this is such a hot button issue with a lot of people.
It has since been moved to pm’s and emails.addysmommy2007-6-10 9:10:21

umm yes there is. mmr is a LIVE vaccine, that is common knowledge. the three viruses are live, and it is not uncommon for measles to be found in the gut of people vaccinated with the mmr. i recommend you find the thread “teething” that is locked, and read all of the info from austinstiredmom. she is a very smart lady.

InactiveThere are a lot of smart ladies here and it is insulting to refer otherwise. I think Tracy was looking for support and then she was very smart to say she thought this thread would end.
I have to say that I think it is not appropriate to piggyback on someone else’s website with very heated and aggressive beliefs. If some people feel the need to use scare tactics and rudeness to get their point across the SMART thing to do would be to start your own website and then you can say anything you want and insult anyone you want and not exploit someone else’s beautiful creation here that was meant for support and help to others. Not a place to be rude and push values that others should believe even if they don’t.

Inactiveim not entirely sure i how insulted someone by stating factual information…if this insults you then thats too bad….its reality. i do believe that aidanstiredmom is very knowledgeable on this subject. i have already taken most of this conversation via pm, however my last post i felt that things needed to be cleared up, because i didnt want people being told false information that mmr is not a live vaccine. i generally keep my son away from kids who i know have recently been vaxed with mmr, because it can shed, and so can the varicella vax. however, its not a HUGE deal, if he does come into contact with them and i dont know about it….life goes on. i would rather he get pox soon then later like the kids who are being vaxed for it now…they are at real risk for complications from chicken pox and shingles as adults when their immunity wears off. nataliachick72007-6-10 10:11:7

InactiveThank you Ann Marie.
I do not think that the purpose of this site is to recruit people into believing propaganda. We have to remember why we all gathered here.
Tracy, I did not mean to insult you earlier. Of course, we are all trying to make what we consider to be the best decisions for our children. I would urge everyone to critically evaluate the sources of information that they are reading, to consider the bias and methodology used to obtain information, and to review the whole story.
Other than that, all I can say is “God grant me the serenity to accept the things I can not change”… I’ll bite my tongue and hold in the rest.
