Jill, I just bought some Motrin (well actually dh did) and I didn’t even notice the warning!!! Unitl now. Wow, that’s scary.

I know weird right? I ‘ve been using motrin forever, with Austin and Aidan, and all of a sudden it pops up!!!

Our ped said the same thing about fevers being a good thing, but he also said that when a fever is causing a change in their behavior (Kaelyn was extremely lethargic) then we should try to bring it down a little.

We’ve also had everyone under the sun tell us that fevers are a good thing- they’ve even gone so far to say this as Sarah was lying on the floor after a seizure due to a fever! In fact, they’ve all told us that the seizures are a good thing too- the body’s way of cooling itself off and protecting itself. So all I can say to that is HUH???!!! Overall, if we weren’t trying to prevent seizures, I think as long as it’s not dangerously high and the behaviour isn’t off (like Kim said) then hopefully you don’t have to worry too much.

Yes,well, stupid bloody doctors!!! How can a seizure, “abnormal” electrical activity be a good thing. I see kids with epilepsy as part of my work and I am sure they don’t think seizures are good! There must be a time when Dr could get their degrees out a Kellogs packet. Sorry to all those wonderful Drs out there!

When it gets to seizures from a high temp, hopefully they are doing everything to find out what infection is causing the high temp and treating that as quickly as possible! When Alana had A UTi and very high temps as soon as they treated the infection her temp went to normal, within 12 hours. Maybe they should focus their energies on treating the kids rather than coming up with stupid things to say.

yes a fever is beneficial to youre body, when you are sick but….. a seizure that is absolutley insane. i can cause some damage i would assume. seizures are no laughing matter, my sis has epilepsy and it’s really freaky to see her having seizures all the time. all that i can say is don’t let the fever get so high that it will cause seizures….. tylenol or whatever you may give

christ, that is insane. i would wonder if that could cause some type of brain damage or something?
