InactiveHi ladies,
i have not been around as Kendra has been at her worst with her reflux, leaving little time for anyhting else. I have been trying the mylanta but not success and maybe iam using it wrong. She is 14 1/2 pounds. It says to give it between meals, but she has teh hardest time while drinking her bottle. My question is can i give it to her just before her bottle? i have been giving her 1.5 ml twice a day, but not change. maybe i should give her 2ml. She also got another ear infection in the other ear within a week of finishing her first round of antibiotic. I felt so descorauge. The meds increase didn’t work, iam increasing it my self to 22.5mg a day until we see the Ped GI on the 14th. i can’t wait. i will also ask the ped for Zegerid. giving prevacid around meals it’s just too hard to do beacuse she takes like an hour to finish her bottles (if she ever finishes them), so i don’t think she ever has an empty stomach. anyways thanks ahead for any advice. Like another parent said having a reflux baby it’s tough!

InactiveAt 7 months old she could probably take up to 5mls at a time. I hope someone else will chime in because I am not a 100% sure on that. I know we gave more at that age but I would feel better if someone agreed with me.

Keymasteryou can’t really over do it w/ mylanta- you know it’s too much when there’s loose stools…
I am always quick to blame reflux for everything, for instance ear infections…maybe you could use this to help you get different/more meds? there’s a animation/illustration on http://www.marci-kids.com that shows why these gerdlings are prone to more upper respiratory issues, such as ear infections

InactiveI used to give Myles Mylanta before feedings and before naps or bedtime. Fortunatley once he was on Prevacid he didn’t need the Mylanta anymore. As for dosing, I was giving Myles 2 – 2.5 mls when he was five months old and 16 lbs. Like Laura said, if you give too much you’ll see very loose stools.
How long have you been giving her 22.5 mgs. of Prevacid a day? Hopefully she will begin to feel better soon. Myles finally turned the corner after 10 days on a high enough dose, but most moms here say it takes closer to 14 days.
Good luck. I hope she’s feeling better soon.
