InactiveHoping one of you “old-timers” can help me out here. Hailey is starting a new preschool/daycare in a couple of weeks. She’ll only be attending daycare part-time and going to preschool in the afternoon two days per week. On the days that she’ll be in daycare with no preschool, she’ll have to have a nap. The problem is the her daycare requires kids to be “completely” potty trained. I consider Hailey to be completely potty trained (wearing panties all day and having no accidents) but she still wears a pull up for nap and bedtime. They are always wet too. Her daycare does not want her to wear a pull up for nap but they will allow me to send an extra change of clothes in case she has an accident (which I’m guessing most days she will). We had her go without the pull up for last two days and the first day she napped for about 2 hours and woke up dry (this was with a conscience effort not to give her too much liquid an hour before nap) and today she wet the bed during nap.
I’m not really sure what to do here or if there is anything I can do. What I don’t want is her getting in trouble or feeling embarrassed or upset at daycare because she’s wet her bed. I wish they would just let her wear a pull up at nap. Argh.Any tips or thoughts? Thanks!

InactiveThat seems like kind of a funny rule?? My son was an early potty trainer, but there were a lot of 3 yr olds in his room that still wore pull ups all day after age three. I wonder what the hang up is?? I would think it would be easier on them to change a pull up then clean up all that mess….. No ideas here for you!!

InactiveI don’t understand it either. Our daycare requires them to be potty trained to move up to the three year old room, but they put them in pull ups for naps and outside play time if you want them to. It seems weird to be that strict about it when I know of several 4 and 5 year olds that aren’t consistently dry at nap time. Sorry, I don’t have any helpful advice, Kaelyn just barely started using the potty on a regular basis.

InactiveHi Stacey, how the heck are you? So good to see you back here, I private messaged you a while back, but never heard from you. How’s Hailey?

InactiveYeah, it’s a different kind of daycare. This is the kind of place that does not accept children younger than age 3 and it’s located at the school where Hailey will go to preschool. They have a published policy regarding children being completely potty trained which I decided to gamble on.
The director did tell me that they know children will have accidents and that I can send a change of clothes. Today is day 3 and so far we’ve had one good day and one not so good day (she’s napping right now so we’ll see). Robin – I sent you a PM back, I never got a notification about having a PM when I logged on!!!August 26, 2007 at 7:58 pm #41740hellbennt
