InactiveMy DS has come down with the flu. Yesterday he wouldn’t eat much, just wanted to sleep. At about 1 am he started to vomit in his sleep. He did this all night, anything he might have eaten last evening was vomiited everywhere. I even gave him another bottle worried about being dehydrated. And he vomited it up as well. I have tried to give him some no name pedialyte and he still vomited. His soft spot has now sunken in. He nursed (after I pumped as I have to thicken his feeds) for about 5 minutes and just went to sleep. That he did manage to keep down. So I’m wondering if I should continue to let him nurse instead of pumping and thickening? He is also on his last day of Biaxin/pulmicort. I am unable to give it to him because he HAS to have a full stomach for the Biaxin. I’m very worried. Now he is also (as of 5 minutes ago) been pooping like water.

KeymasterI forget why you’re thickening? If it’s because if aspiration issues, then I would keep doing it…ask your doctor…if you’re doing it bcse you feel baby needs something ‘heavy’ to keep reflux down, then by all means: nurse your baby…

InactiveI agree with Laura – if thickening isn’t for aspirating purposes then nurse nurse nurse! Anything to get fluids in him! Good luck and I hope he feels better soon. How miserable!!!

InactiveIs the poo green yellowy and extremly stinky…like it could clear out a hosue stinky sick smeeling…you know that smell…..LOL
It could be Rotovirus. I’d call the Peds office in the moringa nd talk to them. When Jedd had those issues they had me take a fresh diaper and put it in a bag and put it in the fridge. They want you to put it in the firdg eincase they need to run tests on it. Leaving it out in the open air can cause it to grow extra bacterias. That said in order to hydrate I’d give small amounts of peidialyte to keep him hydrated. Jedd had a pump for feeds when he was that sick but, we di about 30ml (1oz) and hour on a slow drip. So, I woudl thin that at least 30ml an hour would kep him hydrated for you.November 17, 2008 at 12:28 am #58761Anonymous
InactiveThat is what my husband just had, stink and all! I’m not sure how bad his is, because I’ve been smelling this for 4 days now! He is holding a little VERY little down. It is getting more projectile though. I will be calling the doctors office first thing in the morning, thank you, all of you for your help!
He is on thickener because of aspiration, long after he eats. I’m positive it’s NOT from swallowing, but we won’t know until the 4th of dec.
