Need Help-high cal supplements?

Hi ladies

I have a friend who’s daughter has SEVERE reflux

She is 2 seconds away from fundo and g-tube surgery

She is desperate to help her dd gain some weight

Are there any high cal nutritional supplements you could rec she try?

her dd, as most refluxers, is very very picky!

How old is the baby? I assume no solids yet? I would say Duocal – tasteless… some peds don’t give it until 1 year old. In spain, they give it to newborns even adn my GI here was more than happy to have Matthew on it and use a ton….

I should have added she is a toddler…..about 2.5

That’s odd because she mentioned they tried duocal but her dd wouldn’t

take it…wonder why if it’s not flavored??

Have they tried adding flax oil to some of her foods? Will she eat avocado?

Well… i don;t know why she would not take it. I have tasted Duocal in all types of foods, even water and really changes the texture VERY slightly but not the flavor

Has she always refluxed, not eaten well? I know of older babies that have had a G tube in when they were older… but not just because of reflux i think… is she on her computer at all? There is another forum which i am a member of that has some toddlers with Gtubes and fundos. It may be a great source of info… for babies who are being weaned out fo their tubes there are TONS of recipes… high calorie of course. The forum is
