InactiveHello all, I have an almost 3 week old baby girl that I believe has acid reflux. My four year old daughter had acid reflux terribly and was diagnosed at about 3 weeks of age. She did very well on compounded Prevacid from 3 weeks of age until she was approximately 8 months old, when we were finally able to permanently get her off of the Prevacid. I don’t know how much has changed in the treatment of reflux in infants in three years.
My new little munchkin is showing all of the signs of reflux and I would like to get her some medicinal relief sooner than later. I have already taken steps to keep her head elevated when sleeping and hold her upright after feedings (she is breastfed, as was my first daughter). Just as with my first daughter, these things are not doing the trick and I believe she is going to need reflux meds to manage this and make her comfortable. It’s been so long, I’ve forgotten what dosage, etc. my first daughter started at. I have a new doctor, so want to be able to express to him what I’d like for her to take. Can anyone share with me what would be the best med, dosage, form for my new baby?First daughter was on compounded Prevacid (3 to 4 years ago) which we filled every two weeks. I think it was 7.5 mg that she started at, but she went up. She ended up on the strawberry packages of Prevacid as she got older.Any help would be greatly appreciated. I just feel for my little girl who has all the symptoms of my first daughter with this terribly “wheezing” sound to go along with the other symptoms. 🙁June 27, 2010 at 9:07 pm #66571hellbennt

& welcome! you’ve found a great place!the
key to all of this is RESEARCH and, of course, support!http://www.marci-kids.com is at the FOREFRONT
of research of PPI use and dosing in infants/todders. You might want to
start there to see ‘proper’ PPI dosethen,
hop back here to learn HOW to get that proper dose, if need be, and what FORM of PPI and HOW to administer…Prevacid
101(last post on the page): https://www.infantreflux.org/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=1936&PN=0&TPN=1unfortunately,
the majority of drs & pharmacists don’t know…babies metabolisms’ are much
faster than adults, so the drugs work differently with them…after
medication, you might then want to look at diet…I
have a LOT MORE TO SAY! and most of it is here: Groupie Intro: https://www.infantreflux.org/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=853it’s
looong, but PLEASE read/skim/scroll through it & refer back to it, as it
TRULY will help you!so

ps: when you

old baby is, what formula or breastfeeding, MSPI or not, what meds and
what doses and form of meds and how you’re administering-thanks!hellbennt2010-06-27 21:09:19
