InactiveI’m on a dairy free diet and I seriously need fresh ideas for breakfast. I don’t look forward to it anymore b/c I can’t eat most of the things that you would eat for breakfast. Ariella is not really allergic to diary but she still gets very gassy from it (personally, I think the child is a gas producing machine).

InactiveUse rice milk instead of cows milk. I use it for cereal, to make muffins, and pancakes. I use it for anything that I would use milk for. It is a great substiute. I use the vanilla kind. I personally can’t tell a difference. I don’t just drink it though. Oh, and it has calcium in it.

Keymastercan you have soy milk? I make oatmeal (old fashioned oats) for everyone every morning w/ fat free vanilla soy milk & forzen blueberries, yummm

I hear almond milk is good too…
also: check out the ‘main’ mspi page, there are links and ideas there- check out the info about ‘pareve’- you can look for breakfast items that are marked pareve- there’s a link even to a search for products

if you can have soy then you can have eggs w/ ‘fake’ sausage- it’s actually pretty good…

InactiveDitto on what everyone else has said. Have you tried Vanilla rice milk? I found it much better than the plain…in fact…don’t laugh, but I still use it sometimes with my cereal. Also, pepperidge farms makes dairy free bagels (as are many other bagels if you can have soy) and Smart Balance Light (SBL) is dairy free as well. You could toast a bagel with SBL and jelly or honey. Also peanut butter toast was another favorite for me. I know it is hard being dairy free. Brianna was the same as your DD…I don’t think she was specifially intolerant, but she did have a hard time digesting it.

InactiveHow about a breakfast burrito? We make these sometimes, they’re yummy! Whole wheat tortilla, scrambled eggs with green onions, peppers, ham (or whatever you like) and top with salsa. We also add cheese, but you could either leave that off or use a soy or other cheese.

InactiveVan’s mini waffles are dairy and wheat free, and there is some sausage that is dairy free. Read the labels though. Our Sunday tradition is scrambled eggs and turnovers. The turnovers have wheat and soybean oil in them, but no milk.

InactiveThank you ladies for your yummy suggestions. Unfortunately, I cannot have eggs b/c I don’t tolerate them well (for some reason, I had stomache aches after I eat them). I have them once in a blue moon. Rice milk sounds good. I need to look into that. Do they sell them in regular supermarkets or I have to go to a special store? I have to admit, I’ve never seen it before but maybe it’s b/c I never paid attention.

InactiveYou can buy rice milk in both the regular supermarket and the health food store. In the regular store they usually have it by the soy milk in the cold section, and they also have it in the natural food sections.
