My son’s prescription for zegerid finally went through and we just received it. How do we mix the 40mg packets? Is it with the mylanta? Thought I read that somewhere. He’s taking it tonight so I need to know asap. Also, can I put it in his bottle because you don’t have to wait to give it? Thanks.

ok i made it like this because I didn’t have a 20 ml syringe. Also, what’s the dose. It says use 1 packet per day. I KNOW that’s not correct. Theyre 40 mg packets. I put the water, 6.5 mgs, in a sterile urine cup, unused lol, then dumped in the zegerid and shook it. Then added the mylanta 10 mls. Is this ok?

Yes, the way you mixed it is fine (using the urine cup & also the 6.5mL water + zegerid + 10mL mylanta).

Like Tracy said, check out marci-kids for your dosing range. The way you mixed it above, your liquid will be 2mg/mL so you can figure out how much to give @ each dose (giving 3 doses per day).

Also (like the above post said) keep in mind that some babies can have very loose stools & tummy bloating from the Mylanta so if that happens you may need to move onto Tums Quik Paks (Tracy & I both had to for our babies).
