I’m in need of some help with my children.
My daughter:
age:3.5months
eating:breastfed
meds: Zantac 0.7ml 3X/day. Has been on meds for a month and a half.
issues: has had blood in her stools for almost a month now. Has had MAYBE 3-4 days without ANY blood. Dr. did not see a fissue on examination. Stools are generally mucousy and brown-yellow. She sleeps poorly and is a frequent eater. Constant nasal congestion.
I have been off of dairy, nuts, soy, gluten and eggs for almost 3 weeks, though I got “contaminated” by soy when my sister bought gluten free crackers a week ago and said they were allergen free. When I read through the ingredients later on, I realized there were soybeans in it! I could have cried, because I feel like I have to start all over again. Anyway, I’m not seeing any improvement in my daughter. In fact, she’s sleeping WORSE than she had been, waking at least every 2 hours if not earlier and will NOT settle unless fed. She also has random crying jags that I cannot get her out of. She just has to exhaust herself. 🙁
We have a GI specialist appt on the 25th and I’m hoping for a miracle. What are your thoughts? What meds have you tried for reflux that have worked? Do you think this sounds like a MSPI or allergy??
My son
almost 2 y/o with reflux.
Issues: He’s had reflux since birth. Started on Zantac and is now on Prilosec. I’ve tried him off of it multiple times unsuccessfully. After a week of reduced dosing, he wakes up SCREAMING in the middle of the night…which I presume is reflux. Stools are normal now, but I’d LOVE for him to be off the Prilosec. We haven’t been back to the GI Dr. He was allergy tested at 7 months and came up clear at that point. No hives, but has a history of eczema as a baby.
Any thoughts on both of my kids would be appreciated. Thanks for your time.

maybe you could get your daughter switched to a PPI—doesn’t sound like zantac is working for her.January 21, 2011 at 3:30 pm #67688hellbenntKeymasterLinks to help you:(I realize that this is most likely information overload, but this really will help you…)Erin‘s sticky: https://www.infantreflux.org/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=12948&PID=105126#105126More Erin: https://www.infantreflux.org/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=13175&PID=106395#106395

I REALLY thought he’d outgrow it, but seeing as he’s MISERABLE every time I take the meds away, I think it continues to be a problem. For the most part, his reflux is now silent…but I can hear it coming up…going down…coming up…going down when I don’t give him the meds. He’s not on a lot of prilosec at all, so I’m surprised it is making any difference. He’s only taking 5mg suspension per DAY at the moment. NOTHING dose.
Hellbennt-Thanks so much for all the links. I’ll go through them when I get a minute of not having a crying baby and a tantruming toddler! Appreciate your response.
