InactiveI am wondering if anyones experiences could shed some light on what is going on with my 5 month old. She clearly had silent reflux as a newborn, which was totally eliminated by cutting out dairy in any form, chocolate and my prenatel vitamin. She has been doing great, but is alot fussier than other babies and is more prone to gas. She is generally very pleasant, but has always had a rough time settling down to sleep at night. She is breastfed (no bottles). She was showing some GREAT signs of food readiness. She was grabbing at my food, munching with her mouth, she sits up independently, and was leaning forward toward her probiotic gobbling it up (I give it to her on my finger). We decided to try her on a food a few weeks early because she is so eager. We pureed avocado (the first food for my little ones, so gentle). She LOVED it, and barely lost a drop! She had it again the next day, and then on day three started having silent reflux again. She makes a horrible gasping, whooping sound and is super fussy. Her stools were also VERY stinky yesterday, and today they are hard and she is straining a little bit at a time. She only had avocado 3 times, over two days..and did NOT have any yesterday. She also had some water in a sippy after each time she had avocado. She had NO reactions whatsoever after the meals. Do you think it is the avocado? I am sure I have not accidentally consumed the above things. She is nursing well, but the reflux flares up after nursing. She just hasn’t had it in months, so I figure it has to be the avocado, but avocado is supposed to be so gentle. Thoughts are appreciated!!
Thank you,
Crystal

InactiveI forgot to mention that my prenatal vitamin was causing her reflux a few months back so I stopped it. I also added a new vitamin about 4 days ago, but it does not have iron, so I thought it would be ok. It doesn’t have anything weird in it, just the average multi vitamin. I am also wondering if there is another vitamin that may be causing the reflux flare up?

Keymasterthe new vitamin might have ‘hidden’ dairy in it? the form of calcium in it or something?

Inactiveonce they start eating foods those poops are going to smell!!! you don’t mention if she has ever been on any medication. it sounds like the reflux has probably not been as much under control as you think——i am guessing this because you say she is fussier than most babies. it may be that she needs to be on something.
it seems like most of the babie sthat have been on here with milk or soy intolerances still needed medication for reflux—even if those intolerances were avoided. -
