InactiveI am going to start my 5 month old daughter on Nexium tomorrow and am wondering if anyone out there has had any success with it?
We have been on Zantac and Prevacid but she has a milk allergy and can’t tolerate the Prevacid Solutab and Zantac three times a day worked for about 3 weeks but she is miserable again so now we are going to try the Nexium granuels. Thanks for any advice.JenniferNovember 5, 2009 at 8:00 pm #64447hellbennt
Keymasteryes nexium has worked- you can do a search – go to the upper right hand corner of this page & click on ‘search’ and then choose the Medicine Forum from the drop-down menu & also from the other drop-down menu choose 6 months and OLDER for the posts, so you can learn from all those who have posted in the past and do not currently post here anymore
also check out http://www.marci-kids.com to check the dose

InactiveDoes your daughter take the nexium? We just switched from the solutabs for the same reasons but my daughter is fighting the nexium like crazy. She refuses to take it– she was fine with the solutabs.
How are you getting her to take it?

InactiveWe just started nexium yesterday too, my son is taking it fine. but the doctor a new pedi, found out he was on 22 mg of prevacid a day and she said that was way too high. she suggested 2.5mg of nexium per day, which is a joke! How am i supposed to divide the granules to 2.5 mg anyways? So I have decided to start at 10mg, i give him 5 in the morning and 5 at night. He does seem a little better i think the prevacid bothered his stomach. Now i just have to call the pedi and tell her what i’ve done??

InactiveI am going to give my daughter the first dose this morning……..I will let you know how it goes.
My son took the Prevacid granules and I would mix it in a small bottle with about an ounce of water and I cut a hole in the nipple to let the beads flow through. They stopped making the Prevacid in this form and I am not sure why because it didn’t have the lactose in it.My gastro dr. was a little leary of giving my 5 month old daughter the nexium because of the fact that the dosing is inacurate but she is going to take 5mg a day so half a packet.I am hoping that the nexium is our wonder drug.November 7, 2009 at 8:01 am #64461Anonymous
Inactivenexium seems to be doing well for Patrick, I can tell when it starts to wear off, but its not bad enough to increase the dose. He is on 10mg, by my doing. His doctor wanted him to start at 2.5 mg, talk about inaccurate dosing. I don’t know how I was supposed to weigh out 2.5mg?? So i give him half the packet in the morning and half at night.

Keymasterhttp://www.marci-kids.com should have the answers
if not, you can call them
Office Phone: (573) 884-0672
also: give on an empty stomach, followed by a ‘meal’ 30 minutes later
(there’s a link from the Medicine Forum that is titled ‘the 30 minute rule’ which explains why)hellbennt 2009-11-07 21:22:52 -
