InactiveWith the packets or capsules w/juice, how long do you have to wait to feed? Some people say 30 minutes, but the PI says 1 hour. I am confused.
I was trying to stick with the hour. I gave him 20mg w/juice this morning, waited 40 minutes and couldn’t stand the screaming so I just gave him CCM/Prilosec but I guess that wasn’t necessary according to some.
What is the definitive answer?
Does it have to be 2x per day or can I give it all in the AM? 5:30 timing is rough trying to get an empty stomach there. It doesn’t metabolize as fast as others so I’d assume this would be right. If babies metabolize 3x faster than adults and a PPI lasts in an adult up to 3 days then 24 hours should be ok?
Thanks in advance!

Keymastergive 3 times a day- faster metabolism & all that (or at least try it)- definitely 2 times a day- not once- not enough coverage- baby speeds through dose& then like not on meds…yes empty stomach, followed by meal 30 min laterdon’t know ccm/prilosec?October 28, 2010 at 12:44 am #67233Anonymous
InactiveI am well aware of MARCI. I am well aware they wasted 8 of my capsules (paid OOP) with CCMax and thus am not fond of them. Didn’t even offer anything after I told them the instructions were wrong (Dr P confirmed this). So 3x a day dosing is not feasible without a system like theirs as far as I am aware? Dosing after 5:30 is supposedly pointless dosing w/juice. I’ve been talking to a local compound pharmacy about the sodium bicarb buffer percentage for a compound and she is seeing what she can do so I can get 3x in and have immediate release. I am wondering if I could compound it at home without the need for their kit myself also. I have found *recipes* for lansoprazole but not esomeprazole using sodium bicarbonate powder. I would try buffer babies but I don’t know after the CCMax experience that I want to spend the money and they denied a free trial to see if it would work ok (even though I had one for CCM and CCZ), and having them ignore me after I made that complaint, I’m suspicious.
Nexium is metabolized slower than the other PPI’s, so I am not worried about going to 3x but it is still not an option with the packets or the juice to go past 2x a day either.
But with Nexium the wait time seems to be different than Prevacid OTC (only other one we did beads w/juice). We just went ahead with 45 minutes at the 5:30 one.
The boy has done amazing today! So finding a way to eliminate this wait time will be golden. But for now, 45 minutes did fine. I am just curious as to why it’d say wait at least 1 hour on that PI when the others are 30 min I thought.
Caracream Max is Marci Kids product. We were/are using it with Prilosec OTC (and he has an allergy to something in either product).
Thank you!

InactiveThe rule of thumb is 30-60 minutes. The closer you can get to 60 minutes, the higher the rate of absorption. Delayed release PPIs also need to be administered no later than 5:30 pm.
Timing doses around an infants feeding schedule can definitely make your head spin!
