InactiveOk so we finally got DS to accept some solids. We started with bananas and have added in the oatmeal cereal. But now of course his bms are getting harder and harder and I’m afraid he’s getting constipated (which I was worried about with the foods he was eating). He is also breastfed. So I’m wondering what to try next to get him a little more regular. He doesn’t drink out of a sippy cup yet so no juice yet. I’m thinking prunes. Any suggestions?
Oh and he’s 6.5 months on 22.5mg prevacid.
TIA,
Kim

InactivePears and squash worked very well for Myles when we first started solids and they helped with his constipation issues.
Prunes would also be a good one. I’ve been giving Myles prunes since he was 5 or 6 months old and they definintley help with constipation. I’d only give him a tablespoon or two a day to start to see how he reacts to them.
Good luck!

InactiveOh Laura,
I am by no way trying to wean him yet. I am still breastfeeding him pretty much as much as I was before. I just know that developmentally he was ready a couple of months ago (right before a really bad patch) and just want him to get some of the experience of eating from a spoon and all the different flavors and textures. Plus it is nice to take some food with us to a restaurant to “stay” off his hunger for an hour so that we can all have a dinner together. But I plan on keep on breastfeeding him primarily for at least a year +. But thanks for the info!Kim

Keymasteroh, I should explain

this term means ‘child-led solids’
, which means the child leads you w/ her/his own timetable of when & how (& what?) to eat…I think the phrase ‘child-led weaning’ means the child leads you when s/he will eat solids &, starting solids in a way (boo hoo
) is actually the very very beginning stages of ‘weaning’…anyway, the links above are fascinating to me!
