InactiveKaelyn had intolerance issues with it when we first tried around 18 months. Around 2 years we tried again with no problems. She isn’t a huge fan though. She’ll ask for it every now and then if she sees me drinking it, but that’s it.

InactiveRe the calcium issue, I think that Laura has mentioned blackstrap molasses as being a great source of calcium. I think maybe spinach is as well, I try to add it to things like bolagnase to give a bit extra calcium. She doesn’t seem to like it, spinach that is, but I can’t blame her!

KeymasterI still flinch when I see jonah drink OJ
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (or eat raw tomatoes for that matter
)yes I’ve been experimenting w/ blackstrap molasses- I wish I knew how to cook, lol! I tried to make pancakes w/o a recipe- disaster! then I tried to bake the glop (batter) and that didn’t work either

but basically my idea (not using a recipe- that’s where I went wrong- I should have at least had a recipe to stray from!) is to use baby cereal, baby food puree (I used sweet potato & it actually tasted good!) and black strap molasses to make some sort of baked good (or pancake or waffle)
I bet a muffin recipe would work as well…or banana bread, etc
so who’s creative & wants to post a recipe that actually works, lol!!
oh & if you search for bubba bread, there was a mom who made up her own recipe- gluten free too or wheat free or something….
oh you can mix (organic) frozen chopped spinach into meatballs- that would be a good way of getting calcium in- heck, add the molasses to the meatballs, too

oh yeah, I also was successful at making french toast w/ molasses- I mixed the molasses in with the egg (thinking w/ ari that he’d get all messy if I slathered it on top of the french toast once finished) and it worked! it stuck a little to the pan (cooked it in olive oil for the good fat) but was delicious (can you tell I eat all of my kids’ food

at 12 months you can give fish- I’ve posted a ‘safe fish list (definitely found on the mspi page & I think from groupie intro)
oh yah, I forgot! TUMS!!!!

InactiveTums Smooth Dissolve have milk though, so be careful.

I add blackstrap molasses to almost any baked good that I make for the girls. Kaelyn doesn’t know that pancakes aren’t normally a dark brown color.

InactiveWe use the TUMS smooth dissolve in the Tropical Fruit flavor, and there is no milk in them!

Inactivelauren, as far as the fats, i make sure Trace eats an avacodo every day. i also add flax seed oil to a daily smoothie or sometimes even his bottle. also cook things like sweet potato fries and pasta in oilive oil.
i have no idea what the daily recommended amount is for him, but i am crossing my fingers that i have it covered.

lately he is drinking a little more neocate…its strange!
