Poor baby, the daycare called me and told me he had a 103 fever. Turns out he has the flu. I feel so bad for him. Any tips on keeping him as comfortable as possible? He is 8 months old and I hate that he has it so young!
ibuoprofen and also iceypoles- they make the hydrating ones (called gastrolyte or pedialyte) here in Aus and they were a godsend when Alana had the flu last winter. Try and keep all the rooms of the house the same temp and don’t go outside if to cold (the change in temps can result in croup for some particualry in the evening…which is what happened when Alana had the flu). Lots and lots of cuddles helped to. Hope he feels better soon.
I’ve read in other posts about alternating Tylenol and Motrin. How EXACTLY do you do it? Sorry, don’t have time to search through the other posts His fevers come and go. Fortunately so far he is eating and drinking pretty well. Thanks in advance!
you give the tylenol every 4 hours..and motrin every 6 hrs? i am not sure but you can read it on the back of the box. what they mean by alternating is that they can overlap each other.. but you dont give them at the same time. (if i am wrong someone please correct me! )
you can also give a cool bath.. to lower the fever.
You can alternate tylenol and motrin every 4hrs. Tylenol can be given every 4-6 hrs and motrin I think is every 6-8hrs, but if you are using both you can give one and then the other 4hrs later and alternate like that, but not round the clock for more than 7 days. I would also guess that humidifier might help as well.
Now to top it all off, he has developed an ear infection and thrush in his mouth. This is his 3rd ear infection and all those antibiotics caused the thrush. Poor baby. I will be glad for him when all this is over. He is doing better with the fevers but he is vomiting now too. I’ve got some Pedialyte for him though and just loving on him as much as I can
