prevacid, pepcid, and diarrhea

My 5 wk old has been on pepcid for a week. It wasn’t working so we started prevacid today as well as pepcid. As of today he has horrible diarrhea. My first son was on prevacid and he had the opposite. He was constipated. I’m not sure if the diarrhea is due to him being on both meds or something else. We just started the prevacid today, but last night he slept horribly and also can’t sleep today. The sleeping thing is on and off and I’m not as worried about that. The diarrhea is new though and I just don’t know if it’s because of both meds. Anyone have any ideas?

jonah had loose stools when starting a PPI- as with everything, he was better at the ‘magic’ 2wk mark…so unless it’s truly diarrhea and you’re worried about dehydration, etc, I’d give it 2wks…

I think diarrhea is having to change a watery diaper like every 5-10 minutes- someone correct me!!!

Myles did not get diarrhea, but he did have tummy cramps when he first started the Prevacid. It lasted about two weeks and then his body seemed to adjust to it and he no longer had the cramping. So, I agree with Laura, unless he’s got really bad diarrhea and you’re worried about dehydration, I’d stick with it for two full weeks.
