InactiveAfter using Zantax .5mg 2x daily with my B/G twins for a few weeks, we are now having to switch meds because the Zantac is no longer effective.
I was wondering which meds seem to work better – they are
2 1/2 months old. Also, how long should I give (each one) to see their full effect, if any?I’m at my wits end so ANY advice is greatly appreciated!!!October 19, 2010 at 8:29 pm #67196hellbennt
Keymasterhi & welcome!
I have a LOT to say& most of it’s here, Groupie Intro:
it’s looong, but HELPFUL so please read/skim/scroll though it & refer back to it often!I would get your dr to rx prevacid (read further to learn how to know what the PROPER dosing is), all the while keeping w/ the highest zantac dose for weight. You must keep baby on BOTH meds while you ‘wait’ for the prevacid to ‘kick in.’ This can take up to TWO WEEKS.What I would do is to figure out the maximum dose for the zantac for your baby’s weight- this is 10mgs per kilo. I can help w/ the calculations. Please do not simply take my word on this, please read here:Then, I would research prevacid dosing at http://www.marci-kids.com ;they are from the University of Missouri- they are at the FOREFRONT of the research being done w/ PPIs and infants/toddlers.Also, please read Prevacid 101, last post on the page, to learn more about PPIs https://www.infantreflux.org/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=1936&PN=0&TPN=1so glad you found us!~lauraps: when you get a moment, please go to the upper right-hand corner of this screen and click on ‘settings’ and from there you can edit your signature and let us know how old baby is, what formula or breastfeeding, MSPI or not, what meds and what doses and form of meds and how you’re administering-thanks!

InactiveHello, we went through everything drug wise, had a hellish experience with marci kids myself, but Nexium is a god send! Went from having a ph below 4 to a ph above 7.5! In 2 days!
Solutabs I have no experience with. Son is MSPI and can’t have them but Prevacid gave him insomnia. It worked very rapidly for us as well, but didn’t control the acid nearly as well as Nexium has already.
