InactiveMy Dr. appt went GREAT today, he got on the marci kids website while I was there and prescribed 7.5 mg of genaric prevacid solutab (1/2 of a 15mg solutab) 3x a day. He ordered generic. Come to find out my insurance does not cover prevacid of ANY kind tablet, solutab or genaric. A month worth would be 250$$!! Does anyone buy the solutabs out of pocket? If so where are they most affordable? It seems so easy to use solutab compared to dealing with the beads of the capsules…

InactiveCall your doc. Explain whats going on. Since he was willing to read the marci info, ask if would read about bufferbabies/caracream at the reflux solutions site. Maybe he would agree to the caracream and otc prevacid.
My pharmacist said alot of insurances are refusing to pay for zantac, prevacid, prilosec, nexium, etc.. b/c they are otc now.

InactiveLaura, why do more people seem to prefer the bufferbabies over caracream? The buffer babies from what I am reading hear is the new and improved version, but the caracream says it makes less gas.
why would people choose bufferbabies (looking to mix with prevacid otc or genaric prevacid otc…)May 1, 2011 at 12:09 pm #68312Anonymous
InactiveYour insurance may not be aware that the prevacid is intended for a BABY who needs the solutab form. I’ve heard of that happening before and if you call and explain that your child cannot swallow the OTC prevacid pill, they sometimes change their mind.
Bufferbabies is considered the “gold standard” of the two and is recommended to try first. We were one of the lucky families that saw NO gas issues at all from BB…we started it at 4 weeks old with my LO and are slowly weaning down now at 17 months. We LOVE it! Caracream did not come out until months after we had started BB and I didn’t want to ‘rock the boat’ with our happy little girl and try something new. 🙂 Caracream-Z is only for use with zegerid OTC but Caracream-max can be used with other OTC meds. CC is a one bottle system (BB is two) and is slightly cheaper. I really think that either of them are a great option! Good luck in whatever you decide!May 1, 2011 at 1:53 pm #68313Anonymous
