InactiveGood luck with the solutabs. Landen did excellent on them until he outgrew the dose and I had a hard time getting 30mg (we are still on 15mg). I also think that the lactose or aspartame bothers his tummy (he gets cramping with them). We are changing to 20mg Zegerid soon, but again, if my new GI doc wouldn’t have done zegerid I would stay on the solutabs b/c the benefits have outweighed the other stuff for us.
Also, I was able to find Caracream through FlavoRx at my pharmacy. That would be an option for us too IF my GI would be willing to call in 30mg capsules for us, which so far he has only agreed to Zegerid, which is a victory for us since many in our neck of the woods doesn’t know what it is!

Good luck Erica! I hope Owen is feeling better soon on the solutabs.
P.S. I found the BEST way to administer it is to put it on a baby spoon with just a couple/few drops of water from a little syringe to moisten it up and get it mushy (so he doesn’t choke) and get the entire spoon into his mouth (I hold Landen’s hands down with the other hand since he has Sandifer’s and is wild all of the time) and dump it all into his mouth and this works wonderfully. It gets the ENTIRE dose into his mouth like a charm. Landen also never takes a full feeding after.
Sorry for the long-winded post. I just know the frustration of working and worrying about the timing issues.

InactiveI know this may be obvious. But the same applies with the beads in the
capsule too right? I mean, my little man cannot be eating more than 2-3 oz
each feeding. This isn’t ideal obviously, but still works correct? I am told to
feed him 30 min. to an hour after giving it to him. Why the big gap. Is 30
minutes better than 1 hour?
Why do so many people prefer solutabs over opening the capsules and
feeding the beads?
Is it possible that my sons vomitting is increasing because of the medicine
and not because of his cold? How can I tell the difference?
Wits end ……

InactiveI wouldn’t think that the medication would make him vomit more. When Abby was younger her reflux would always get worse when she was sick or a tooth was coming in.
The solutabs are what her pedi originally prescribed. I have never used the capsules. I just like the solutabs b/c they are easy to administer. Some in the medicine thread Joel describes why you wait the 30mins. I will look to find the link.
Abby used to eat smaller amounts and it was fine with her meds.
