Prevacid variations versus Zegerid

hi everyone,

was hoping to get people’s opinions on Prevacid solutab or capsules vs. Zegerid.

1) if your little one regurges up the prevacid solutabs into her mouth but then swallows it again right away, are the beads still good?

2) does anyone feel like they are “guessing” or “hoping” that the Prevacid in solutab form gets to where it needs to take full effect?

3) has anyone switched from prevacid solutab to prevacid capsules in applesauce and noted better results?

4) has anyone been switched to zegerid and found better results?

5) do most people mix in the zegerid with a feeding? (our little one is still on breastmilk only and it would be great if we can just mix it into a meal)

6) if you have to give zegerid separately, does anyone have difficulty with the volume your little one needs to take to get teh dose down?

7) does anyone have problems with the taste of zegerid?

we are meeting a new team on Monday and we want to gather as much info on these medications. thanks in advance!

My vote: Good dose (I’d try 30mg given as either 3 doses of 10mg each, or 2 doses of 15mg each) of prevacid in bufferbabies.

I personally would try to up the dose of prevacid before switching meds. I used prevacid in caracream, and each dose was about 7mls of med! It was sometimes hard to get it in. But all babies are different- mine had an oral aversion and really didn’t like the taste of anything, let alone salty caramel. But Laura didn’t have any trouble giving it to Jonah, so depends on the baby.

ps: caracream has been improved/modified & is now Bufferbabies.
jonah liked the taste of caracream with both the prilosec and the prevacid.
However, he did need prevacid- after maxing out on his dose for prilosec, we switched to prevacid. there were times when he had to be on BOTH zantac AND prevacid (first prilosec)…
