InactiveHello everyone and thanks for all your help. I am taking Ava to another Ped GI on Fri, I think she needs her Prevacid increased. Does anyone favor prevacid to Zegerid. Does one have more side effects then the other? Since she had thrush she is giving me a problem taking her med. She used to suck the syringe, I tried the y cut nipple in a bottle, but there were too many granules left? Any other ideas?

InactiveHave you tried holding the solutab in her cheek and using alittle water to help dissolve it? We did that for a short time with Cooper and it worked great. I will say that the advantage I have heard most re the zegerid vs prevacid is that you don’t have to time the zegerid. But I think the mixing for me might have been a pain. I love the solutabs. But that is my personal opinion. The moms who use zegerid will tell you the same about it I am sure.

InactiveI have a suggestion about the solutabs. I found a great way to do it.
dissolve the tablet in a very small container (like a cough syrup cup) w/ just a small amount of water, like .3ml or less. Then suck it up with a dropper, not a syringe (dropper like the one w/ mylicon drops). The syringe will compress the pellets to the bottom and waste a lot & the dropper is just easier cause you can stick it towards the very back of her cheek towards the bottom and squeeze a little at a time. The syringe also was hard for me to use because it sometimes moves too fast all the sudden and chokes the poor baby & she ends up spitting it out.Just keep stucking up the water/pellet mixture adding a little more water if needed until all the pellets are gone from the cup.April 30, 2008 at 4:44 pm #50988Anonymous
InactiveWell I have 5 kids with reflux. Zegerid rocks. I will never go pack to prevacid now that we have been on zegerid.

InactiveAnother prevacid solutab dosing pointer: even when landen was as young as 6-7 weeks old we did this:
place solutab on a baby spoon. Add a few drops of water. Not too much, just enough to moisten it so they don’t choke. baby will usually open their mouth to the spoon and you can just drop it into their mouth.
it’s easier when they get older. I just started Landen back on 7.5 mgs a day b/c of his long teething experience that is flaring his reflux and now I just stick the solutab right in his mouth dry and he gums it up. LOL!March 5, 2011 at 10:53 am #67979Anonymous
InactiveHI. I am pretty new here. We have been using the Prevacid solutabs for about two weeks, and I am planning on stopping because I think DS is having some severe side effects. But what works for us when giving him the half solutabs is putting it in his mouth (in his cheek if I can) I then give him a binky. The sucking on the binky usually helps the solutab do down without coming out of his mouth.
