InactiveHelp! I think my presciption was called in to the pharmacy wrong. My infant is 7 weeks old. According to all I have read on this site she should be prescibed 15mg. Well the bottle says to administer 1.5ml once daily at 30mg/sodium biocarb. What the hell does this mean? I am not starting this dose until I call the office in the am. I also notice that many of you are mixing your own Previcid…mine is in a liquid already…Also my ped said absolutely no way to give Zantac while on Previcid. Interesting enough I asked the pharmacists, looked it up in the PDR and have found in this forum that I should NOT stop the Zantac b/c it could take up to 2 wks for the Previcid to work. In addition, Kierra is on 3ml a day of Zantac…well according to the PDR she could receive up to 10ml a day! I also read on this forum about administering Mylanta for her horrible gas. Once again my ped said NO. I need some thoughts from you all on all of this. I am at my wits end!

InactiveHow many mg/ml is the solution, and how many mls do you give a day in total?

InactiveThe bottle says 30mg/sodium bicarb and to give 1.5mls. I called the pharmacy and they are frantically trying to find out who made the solution and will not tell me yet if it is the correct dosage amount. Why is this so hard to figure out for the pharmacy? Shouldn’t they know if it is wrong or right?

Keymasteryes, the pharmacy SHOULD know, but unfortunately most DO NOT know…Just TELL them how to do it and don’t even BOTHER with the ped…get to a ped GI ASAP while you deal with all of this hassle in the meantime. YES you can (and SHOULD, in my opinion and experience) give the zantac also- just make sure it’s given at least 2 hours (or more) seperate from the PPI
ANYWAY, welcome!!!
all of this is ‘spelled out’ for you here, in my welcome/intro

InactiveGet this!!! The pharmacy totally screwed up! The original script was 3mg/ml and the bottle says 30mg. In addition, the pharmacy somehow can not find the log of how the solution was made to know if it was made wrong or it was just a typo on the bottle. They offered to make it again! HA!!! I am switching to another pharmacy. However, on the flip side I don’t think 3mg/ml at 1.5 ml per day is enough. Oh this is so crazy!!!!
