InactiveI did contact Walgreens, a nd they do use FavorX, but they said that there
is some sort of agreement or something where they can not use
caracream……
Joel? Do you know anything about this? Also, when I contacted you, it
didn’t sound so promising about getting the caracream due the the
agreement you guys have with Zegerid makers?
Any other thoughts?

InactiveYes, I would contact Joel. I recently spoke with him. I know that they will soon be phasing it out, so I wonder if it’s still available through flavourx. Not sure. He’ll definitely be able to help you out and clear things up.

InactiveRobyn,
I’m not sure what policy they are talking about. Perhaps our non-compete agreement with Santarus? According to that, we can only sell it for research purposes. The reason that we are able to provide it to FlavoRx is that we have a little survey set up with them, which they have to conduct with any pharmacies that buy CaraCream from them. This qualifies as “for research purposes”. The study basically just asks why the patient needs CaraCream and can’t use Zegerid – pretty simple stuff.
The only things I can think of that might be going on with your pharmacy are: 1) They’re lazy and don’t want to go to the trouble to fill out a simple survey, 2) It’s possible that FlavoRx is starting to run out of the large supply of CaraCream that we shipped them earlier this year, and so they can’t supply them any, or 3) they talked to somebody at FlavoRx who doesn’t know what he/she is talking about and isn’t aware of the study that we have set up with them.
If the first idea is true, then simply letting them know that you know how the whole process works might get them to get their butts in gear and get you what you need.
If it’s something else and Zegerid still just isn’t working for you, then email me and we will work something out.
Let me know if you need anything else!

InactiveI’m not getting a clear answer from Walgreens… I’ve called them back
again, and at least got someone nicer this time who looked into it. She
said that their corporate office will not let then order it.
I have the University pharmacy looking into it to see if they can get it and
am waiting to hear back from them. I’m hoping!!!!!

InactiveWhen we were supplying directly to pharmacies we always had problems with Walgreens pharmacies, so I’m not really surprised. I would try a smaller, less chainy drug store. Any pharmacy can (at least theoretically) order from FlavoRx, so it shouldn’t be too hard to do. Good luck!

InactiveJoel….
Yah! I finally had success with the University pharmacy taking the time to
actually look into this, and they are willing to order the caracream for
us!!!!
a couple of questions….it seems like the preference is the prilosec over
prevacid… true?? Also, they said that with prevacid they can make it to
last only 14 days whereas with the prilosec it can last 30. I remember
people saying that the compounds last only 2 weeks… .is that true with
caracream as well, or with caracream can it really last the 30 days? they
also said that they could make it at a 3.5 mg per ml or 2 mg per ml….. is
it ok to do the 3.5?
thanks so much for your help.

InactiveRobyn,
On the marci-kids site, in the reasearch data section, it says that prilosec
with caracream is stable for 30 days (refrigerated) and prevacid 14
(refrigerated). According to the research done there, yes, caracream mixed
with prilosec WILL last that long as long as it’s refrigerated. At room temp,
it’s good for 14.
Joel will have to answer about the concentration though.
Hope that helps

InactiveI just replied to this one via email. Erin is right about the stability. Let me know if you need anything else.

InactiveJoel,
Along these lines, I have an entire box of caracream that I ordered from you about a year ago (just in case the zegerid didn’t work out for us) and have never used it…..will it go bad? Because I would love to send it onto someone who can really use it.
Let me know! I hope you are doing well!

InactiveI’ll take it if you aren’t going to use it!!!! We need to pay a lot of $ to get
it from the pharmacy that we finally found will do it…..

InactiveAnne, if I remember correctly, the CaraCream that you have is the regular sized bottles, not CaraCream Jr. Also, I think that at the time of your last order we had not yet updated our recipe by increasing the amount of buffer in it. Because of these two things, I wouldn’t really recommend passing it along. You might also want to check on the expiration date of the TheraSol bottles, as they expire within a year of manufacture.
If you know of someone who really needs CaraCream, I would prefer that you just put them in contact with us and we will work something out for them.
Thanks!
