InactiveI just switched dd from zantac to prilosec compound. It is a lot (5ml) and tastes terrible. How am I supposed to get this into her? she hates it and the ways I was hiding the zantac don’t work for this.
Help!

InactiveYou just have to do it. I used to lie Carter on the counter, squeeze it in the side of his cheek, and then follow up with a bottle…
The compound is not time sensitive to food, so you can feed at any time with this med….. But, I will mention that a lot of members here had trouble with that form staying stable. We did not have that issue, but we had it shipped from a compounding pharmacy and only filled two weeks at a time…. and we had no issues, but others may feel differently….May 20, 2009 at 1:39 pm #62608Anonymous
InactiveI think because it is so thin I can force feed it and most of it gets in (she could spit the zantac out completely) but it is miserable and we both hate it. Does the zegerid taste any better?
I am aware of the stability issues. I’ve finally got an appointment with a ped gi next thurs and I’m just trying to get us through till then. I tried to get my regular Dr to rx zegerid but he is unfamiliar with it and wanted to do prilosec instead. I figured/hoped it will get us through another week till we can see a specalist and figure this out a little better.

InactiveI think Zegrid has a fruity flavor so maybe that would be better. I think (I coudl be wrong) but Zegrid is just prilosec in a different suspension that is much more stable? **(someone help me here 🙂 ) so hopefully that would be good.
Can you also do a bit of Mylanta in between to get you guys through?May 20, 2009 at 4:38 pm #62610hellbennt
Keymasteryes, zegerid is prilosec in a powder form w/ flavorings and ingredients to keep it stable when you mix it with water and an added buffer

Keymastera PROPERLY made compound (very very difficult to find; not impossible but MOST have had rotten luck with it!!!) does NOT have to be timed around food- it can be given at ANY TIME.
Bufferbabies/caracream and zegerid are all PROPER cpmpounds, so they can be given at anytime, regardless of when baby has eatenNovember 6, 2009 at 8:33 pm #64456Anonymous
InactiveUse prevacid. It tastes much better and is easier to give.
