InactiveElijah’s insurance needs prior approvel for Zenigrid. I already printed out the form but who knows how long it will take.
Prevacid solutab though does not need PA. Has anyone switched to one then the other then back again?
And with the solutab, how many beads are in them? Is it as much as with
the capsules? Are they as big as the beads in the capsules? (concerned
on whether he will spit them out)Do the kids spit them out?
If he went on Previcid solutabs while waiting for PA for Zenegrid (We
REALLY want to try this) would it then take a few weeks to kick in? I
know, I have heard 5 days in some cases with the Zenegrid. If we decided to stay on the solutabs or try some form of Prilosec or
another prevacid with “beads” what is there that is non-acidic that he
can take it with? I hear applesauce is too acidic and that with the
stomach acid and makes the PPI ineffective before it reaches the proton
pumps. What if he took the beads with few teaspoons of banana, then drank
gripe water, which has sodium bicarb in it? Anyone ever try that? What about OTC Prilosec? I have some that is a caplet, extened release
I think, says not to crush or chew. Can it be broken in half? Thanks

InactivePrevacid solutabs are not beads. My 4 year old takes them and I am hoping to switch my 5 months old from compounded prilosec to them. The just instantly disolve in their mouth and they taste good. For the little ones, you break them in half or fourths and hold the piece in there cheek until it melts, or you can dissolve it in a bit of water on a spoon and suck it up with a syringe and give it that way. I prefer prevacid solutabs to compounded meds because you don’t have to worry about stability and refridgeration issues.

InactiveThnak you Milesia, why did I think that they had beads or little balls in them? Maybe it is too mich midnight reading LOL.
I think we should try the solu tab, for stability issues, his adversion
to the syringe. Not usually for me, I make uit a game with him but mom
and dad hold him down to make him take it so the dislike.i’ve been putting his meds on a spoon (measure with syringe) and squirt
a little bit on at a time. I usually sit him in a chair and I sit on
the floor. I give him his clothe bug book and get him into it and he
kind of just opens his mouth and takes it.Sometimes I have to spoon it back in but since it is a small amount and not a syringe full, it is easier to manage.
