I posted a while ago, but have just been lurking for a while.
My DD is almost 8 months old and we’re 5 months into the TED (turkey, chicken, rice, zucchini, summer squash, pears, sea salt) now and I’ve still only successfully added brown sugar, carrots and a multivitamin for me.We had allergy testing and really didn’t find out much except that she has a definite milk allergy and possible other intolerances. (duh…)I’m trying to add beef right now because chicken was more positive than beef in the tests – but I don’t think it’s working. She had a really strange looking BM today and a slight increase in reflux symptoms. I don’t want to give up – I’ve read a few posts about waiting a few days just because it might be ‘shock’ to her system that’s causing a reaction.I’ve seen a few postings about probiotics and enzymes to help digestion and I have a million questions about them.1) Should I definitely ask a doctor before trying them? I don’t really have a doctor ‘on my side’ right now (I’m in the middle of switching peds) so that would be pretty much impossible.2) As far as probiotics go, will taking them myself help DD or will it only work if I give them to her?3) If I give them to her, do I have to give her an “infant” probiotic?4) Any recommendations on a dairy, soy, wheat, corn, etc… free probiotic?Okay, I guess that’s a start. Thanks for any input!!!MandyAda – 4/06 – Milk and Egg allergyAmelia – 3/08 – MFPI?October 26, 2008 at 4:30 pm #58074hellbenntKeymasterOctober 27, 2008 at 11:25 pm #58120AnonymousInactiveThank you so much!!!

He doesn’t tolerate the other stuff. I was just able to add peaches a few wks ago. I’m going to try chicken soon I think but am hesitant since he doesn’t do turkey.
Anyway, on to your questions… I’ve tried digestive enzymes for myself & they didn’t seem to do anything. I’ve stopped taking them. I am going to ask ped GI about giving them to Evan when we start solids (sometime after 6-7 mths old).
1) I would discuss the enzymes w/ dr 1st, but I wouldn’t see the need to talk about probiotics.
2) I don’t see how you taking them could hurt. I was taking them but they weren’t completely hypoallergenic so I stopped. Next time I order Evan’s hypo probiotic I will also order myself some b/c my system could use some order too w/ the monotony of my diet (I’m sure you can relate).
3) Yes, I would do an infant or kid’s formula.
4) The brand we use is the Klaire Lab’s Ther-Biotic Infant Formula. I mix 1/4 tsp w/ 5mL of water daily.
