InactiveSounds like her reflux isn’t under control. That happened to my dd as well. You might want to look into getting her on a PPI like prevacid or prilosec. I would also talk to your ped GI about a feeding assessment and/or swallowing assessment. Some babies have trouble co-ordinating their suck-swallow-breathe and this can also cause a disorganized sucking pattern.

InactiveI agree with everything Lori has said. She may need to be on a PPI medication like Prevacid or Zegerid. Many babies do not get relief from their reflux with Zantac; mine included. Prevacid really turned things around for us.

KeymasterI can’t remember if your baby had a test for DGE (delayed gastric emptying)? that is what reglan is for. otherwise, she might not even need it…if she did have the test and does have DGE could you put that in your signature so I won’t ‘bother’ you again

? These next 2 topics are some more ideas to check out- I don’t know much more than what you’ll find in these posts, but others do
: Laryngomalacia – What is it? https://www.infantreflux.org/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=4884&a mp;PN=1& Tracheomalacia – What is it? https://www.infantreflux.org/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=4881&a mp;PN=1
The stretching of the neck seems like the body’s reaction to trying to get comfortable/be able to swallow/breath easier…I agree that it’s something to get checked out…

InactiveHello !
Laura my daughter never had a DGE.The Peds just gave her that med after she seen the result from the upper gi.I Think I will have them do that test cuz like i said before I dont want my baby taking meds she does not need.I cant stand that they would give her meds without doing further test first.Wait till i see this doc on tuesday.I am so upset!Dont they know to do these tests before giving those meds for our babies. My kids r my life and I would do anything for them.Well now that i let off some steam I want to thank you all for your info.

Keymasterjonah was put on reglan in the hospital, in the NICU. it is an EXCELLENT NICU- highly rated!
And THEY put him on reglan ‘just because!’
I researched b/t being released from the hospital & our 1rst ped GI appt & at the 1rst appt basically ‘told’ the ped GI that I didn’t think jonah had delayed gastric emptying and that I wanted to discontinue the reglan. He agreed with me.
