Question about Mylanta C S

I haven’t been able to find this anywhere near me, for some reason! So, I went to look up the ingredients, as I have Children’s Tums on hand. The MCS says it contains calcium carbonate and magnesium hydroxide(http://www.empr.com/hyperacidity-gerd-and-ulcers/mylanta-supreme/drug/4936/#). This sight says not to use the adult form for children, and directs you to the children’s version. That has only calcium carbonate.

From this, am I to assume that the magnesium hydroxide shouldn’t be given to children???

This is fine. It’s for adults. As far as I know there is NO mylanta for children. There is no aluminum in this one. The ingredient to watch out for is alumimum. Magnesium hydroxide is fine.

Regular Mylanta has aluminum:

Aluminum hydroxide 200 mg (equivalent to dried gel, USP)
Magnesium hydroxide 200 mg
Simethicone 20 mg

Ultimate Strength has aluminum:

Aluminum hydroxide 500 mg
Magnesium hydroxide 500 mg

That site does have a Children’s Mylanta listed, but it may not be carried by most pharmacies.

I actually *finally* found it today!!! It is the store brand version, but there was no Mylanta version. We’ve also decided to stick the soy we were on (thanks for your other response explaining if/then’s :)) with oatmeal cereal in it and Mylanta after she eats. We did that for the last two bottles, and she seems to have been a bit better than usual. We’ll see how the next few days go.
