Inactiveok I HATE it HATE HATE it….Aidan will only go in the freeking snugli, which while being wonderful for HIM b/c he loves it so much, REALLY sucks for me as I have back problems to begin with and after about 30 mins with him I am in so much pain I can barely talk…..I bougt a Kozy carrier and while it was like a huge AHHHHH for me and my back, Aidan absoutley HATES it, no matter what carry I try he screams and screams when he’s in it…..the problem is he only likes to be front faceing with his little legs dangling down…the kozy cuts iff the circulation in his legs if I position it like that…..there’s no other carrier out there besides thes annoying snugli/baby bjorn thigns that kill my back that have the positioning I like..not to mention I spent 70 bucks on something he hates, so I can’t afford to try another kind of carrier…..Just ranting cause as I write this he is YES in the snugli while I’m sitting down and I’m in a lot of pain…….ugh

InactiveIf you’re really not going to use it, return it and get your money back. If you only used it once or twice, have the box and receipt, and bought it from store with a good return policy (like Walmart), they’ll give you your money back. I bring things back with the simple explantion, “I hate it.” They always give me my money back!!

Sorry, I don’t have any baby wearing advice. I did it with Ellie for a while and like you it killed my back.
Will he sit in a swing or vibrating boucey chair?

Inactivewell, I would return it but I ordered it off of the net, and he has spit up on it so they won’t take it back once it has been washed.,.etc etc-ugh-lol guess I’jj just have to save up my money for a good chiropracter down the road!

InactiveHi Jill,
Sorry you are unhappy with your babycarriers. We bought a Baby Bjorn while pregnant, before Laura had really educated me on babywearing (LOL!), & found out how much better slings are for kiddos. Anyway, I then ordered a hotsling (& met the owner/creator–she is awesome!) & LOVE them! I still use both of my hotslings.
Recently, I ordered an ERGO carrier, because it will be easier as Emma gets bigger. It is like a modern-day Mei Tai, & is great for when we are outside (more rugged terrain). I also have a traditional Mei Tai & really like that too, & another carrier which names escape me now (dh calls me Samurai Mama when I wear it…a bit tricky to do out in public). Anyway, the ERGO is so much like a mei-tai, but is very easy to put on in a hurry or in a parking lot, etc.
On a side note, I had surgery when I was 11 on my back & have major back & joint issues. I honestly never thought I could babywear. Until, I found hotslings! And, now with the ERGO too, my back is fine. The hotslings are not too expensive, but the ERGOs are up there.
You can probably eBay the carriers you have now, at least make back some of your money or sell them to a resale children’s shop. At almost 2, I carry Emma A LOT, & not always by choice, so I feel your pain. On days when she is sick or just needs more mommy-time, I end up holding her all day. Without my carriers, I would get nothing done. It is tough, but at least once you find the right carrier/sling for BOTH of you, life will be easier for all! Babywearing makes our reflux babies feel so much better & it’s a short window of time that we get to really hold our kiddos.
I hope Laura can chime in here too, perhaps with some other suggestions. She is THE expert on babywearing!!

Keymasteryou can EASILY resell your Kozy on hte FSOT (for sale or trade) forum at http://www.thebabywearer.com & here http://groups.yahoo.com/group/BabywearingSWAP/
you can also try swapping it for something else liike a wrap
another way to wear baby facing front that is good on your back is a wrap here’s a photo- Im not suggesting this brand per se (better for a smaller baby) but so you can get a visual: http://www.mobywrap.com/instructions.php?link=6
also: try him on your back- looks hard but it’s not
– get him on there and start walking around the block- he might freak out for a few moments but then he’ll most likely calm down and maybe even konk out!May 4, 2006 at 10:10 pm #7566Anonymous
Inactivehey laura, that wrap looks do-able I think, it’ll put him in the same position as the snugli does, yet will probably be easier on my back..Ty for the link, all I could find were slings and some wraps that just looked completely imposible to do (not to mention bulky)…I keep re-trying the Kozy (did today) with the small hope he’ll somehow all of the sudden love it (I mean the thing feels like I’m wearing a cloud instead of a 17 lb baby!!!!) but no luck so I might indeed sell it…

InactiveDitto what Lauren said about the Hotslings. I have big time back and shoulder problems and can still carry Claire around comfortably (at almost 20#) in a Hotsling. I tried a Kozy… didn’t work for me; hard to get her loaded up, uncomfortable on my back/shoulders; big protests from Claire too. I sold it for exactly what I paid for it on thebabywearer.com FSOT.ksparrow2006-5-7 14:6:15

Inactivesaw the wrap at babies r us, it’s going to be a no-go, WAY to complicated..I think I’ll go with one of those on the hip things, they go up to a higher weight..looking at the hotsling’s I love the colors just have to make sure they can hold him how he likes to be held…almost bought another snugli, this one had lumbar support, but the weight only went up to 26 lbs and he’s almost 19 now so I figured nope not gonna work for as long as I need him in it. (ty ty ty for all the responses and the links I was literally going nuts from the back pain…..)

Keymasterjill, the wrap you saw at babiesrus wouldn’t work for you- it’s like the link I gave you on the previous pagee, to give you a ‘visual’ where I said it’s good for younger/lighter babies…
if you go to http://www.mamatoto.org they tell you how to make your own wrap & they have videos- not too complicated- like tying your shoes- takes a moment but then it’s habit…
how to make your own for cheap: http://www.wearyourbaby.org/Create/NoSewBabyCarrier/NoSewWra p/tabid/121/Default.aspx
& videos how to use it; http://www.wearyourbaby.org/Default.aspx?tabid=173
