I am at my wits end. So we had the Prilosec compounded and flavored with Bubble gum…..It’s workign great but he is now refusing to take it. NO matter what I do he refuses. I try giving it to him thru a nipple, syringe, faking him out with formula ect.

What can I do? i’m about to lose my mind.

Hi there,

A couple of things, if it is not compounded correctly, or if it has flavoring, it might not work. So that said, if you say it’s working, then go with it.

My question would be how old is he? I know it sounds cruel, but for Carter, we would lay him on the counter, put it in his mouth and wait till he swallowed. He didn’t like it, but he had to take it, so you have to do what you have to do….. I know it is hard…. Probably not the best response, but hopefully someone else will have a better answer….

he’s 3 months and I’ve tried laying him flat and putting it in his mouth but he spits it out.

I would think the bubble gum may give it a better taste but I guess not.

take a tiny/skinny 1ml syringe

squirt medicine into mouth, deep along inside of cheek

squirt a bit then move over tongue, still squirting a little to the other side

go back & forth like that

and BLOW on baby’s face- he will swallow
