REGLAN??

hAS ANYONE USED IT WITH SUCCESS?

She is doing well w/ prevacid but dge is very bad.

They want to try reglan instead of erythro because she’s been on erythro for 3 months already.

Let me know if anyone has used it with success???

Has anyone’s child outgrown dge???

there have been succes stories- just start out w/ a low dose and you can always move up…so this is the one case where you want to go lower than what the dr says, LOL

Aiden has been on Reglan for 4 months. I hate it but it helps him alot. HE got put on it in the ICU at CHildren’s hospital when he was 8 weeks old and he isnow 6 months. HE was first put on 0.2mg/kg/dose and he was 5kg at the time. So he was geting 1ml 4x/day (4mg/day total). Hw has been weaned down to 0.1mg/kg/dose ,or.75ml/ 3x a day for a tota of 2.25mg/day. IT can have some pretty nasty side effects, some irreversible if used long term…what is long term???? We are trying to drop to 2x/day but so far he has only tolerated weaning down to 3x/day. That is my Reglan story…..

Thank you Aiden’s Mom, here is the dose she is on , she is 18.5 lbs. The bottle says 120 Syr, 5mg/5ml so 1 mg/ml I guess.

She is to take 1 ml 4 times a day, does that sound right????

What side affects did you see?

Did it help the stomach emptying???

Also, how should reglan be timed??Meaning Prevacid must be given on an empty stomach followed 30 min later by a meal…what is the case with reglan or it doesn’t matter??

Also a funny piece of info…my dd went to the gi for a ck up and there was a woman with a 2 mo old with reflux and I took her aside, told her about the website and MArci kids and that GI will give a lowwww dose, so she calls me up this morn and yup axid 1 ml 3 times a day for her kid who is screaming…so I told her to ask for prevacid and the dosage…all that so hopefully she’ll show up on this board…..

I had a long post that got erased and now I am out of time….so I was told that .75mg/kg/day is the “safer zone”. Adi is approx 8kg so anything less that 6mg or 6ml per day should be okay…THat is ofcourse only theory. Aiden has never had any of the side effects from it which could incle aggression, muscle twitches, apnea, sleepyness etc. He has tolereted it very well. ANd it has helped him alot. HE eats more, spits up less of the feeds (when I say less, he still psit sup 30+ times a day, but small amts), and is genearlly less miserable.

I know alot of people stay away from it as it is a pretty nasty drug and it does cross the blood/brain barrier, but I can’t say it has done anything but good for us….

That all being said, I am still trying to get him off of it….Going slow.

ANymore questions please don’t hesitate to ask! Oh yeah, the timing question… Timing should be 30 minutes before meals in thoery. We do that when we can, We give it with our compounded prevacid with no isssues. On the times it is given right with a meal it still works and have not had any real issues with that aspect. We give out equally spaced thru the day. Every 6 hours around the clock when he was on it 4x/day and now every 8 hours 7am, 3pm, 11pm. NOt an issue for us becasue he eats at 11pmish every night still.

should be…everybaby is different. My recommendation is to try the prescribed dose and wean down from there. We went down by 0.1 ml every few weeks to get down to 0.75ml 4x/day and then went to 3x/day.

I would suggest 1ml 4x/day then 0.9 ml 4x/day then 0.8 ml 4x/day until you get to a point wherehe does not tolerate the wean. Then go back up to the better dose and then try 3x/day etc. This process took us 2 months to get to .075ml 3/day. go slow!

now my disclaimer…I am not a doctor, but this is how my GI told me to try and wean and he (aiden) would let me know when to stop and he does….

after the 1st day we norticed a big difference, but it was in the hospital and they were doing alot of things….so I am not sur eif it was the regaln alone or everything combined.
